The "next one": buy BLNR now or wait for Speedmaster Moonphase Metas Co-axial 2016?

Would you guys go for a Blue "Deep Black" Ceramic Planet Ocean or the BLNR for roughly the same price?

BLNR, but then again I am slightly biased馃榾

Seriously though...I have not tried on the new PO Ceramic Black range so this is a bit hypothetical...but I think the BLNR would probably win on wearability (case dimensions) and versatility (business to casual jeans)...with the vastly superior resale factor thrown in (which might not be relevant to you) that would probably make it a slam dunk for the BLNR.

Right now, without having looked at the PO hands-on, I would only suggest the PO Deep Black for a friend looking for a colourful sports watch with an "anti-rolex" vibe...that might be you馃榾

Thanks for the reply! Here's what I currently have, this will probably help people give me some input:

I have the following watches right now:

Omega Casino Royale Planet Ocean
Omega Quantum of Solace Planet Ocean
Omega Skyfall Planet Ocean
Omega Spectre Seamaster 300M
Omega Dark Side of The Moon Speedmaster

Well I see you might have just the slightest addiction to James Bond馃榾

I think either watch (BLNR or Deep Black) would work in your collection...the BLNR would give you variety and perhaps more versatility.

Well I also joined the Dark Side. A local retailer had a new BLNR in stock. Paid list, but I knew that going in. They provide an extra 2 years of warranty and some other perks with services and optional refinishing for any major desk dives.

Looks like the Speedy Moonphase is hitting the secondary market..

(No affiliation)

Good catch @oddboy...and it should be noted...costing less on the grey market than a SpeedyTuesday.

Export price on this site US$6,250.00. That's a massive discount馃え on the retail price of approx. USD10K for a brand new Basel 2016 "flagship" watch from Omega, the world's first fully anti-magnetic chronograph, Metas certified etc.

I do understand why Omega turns a blind eye to AD's selling excess inventory to the grey market. They need to reach minimum revenue targets after all.

What I can't understand is why they don't control inventory on such a significant new watch as this Metas Basel 2016 moonphase and only sell via their OB's, for example. If they could retain pricing on at least a few of their high-end watches and use the Rolex trickle strategy this would generate a halo effect for the brand and they could still flog the others (ATs, standard POs etc.) via the AD's and not care less as to whether they end up in the grey market.

I have said this before and I will beat this to death again馃榾...if you live in a region with an active and reliable grey market vendor you probably have to be one of the following to purchase a new Omega at retail pricing at US$10K:

1. Completely uninformed (eg. mall first time luxury watch buyer).
2. Incredibly vain and insecure to value the OB pampering process over a 40% discount.馃榿

If you need a GMT for business trip, then get a real GMT.
Using the chronograph as a GMT is not convenient, and not easy to read.
I'd go for BLNR

I'll go with the BLNR simply for variety as you have quite a collection of Omegas. Both watches are beautiful either way.

And on a collectibility level (which is part of my consideration) I just have a feeling the Batman won't be around for that much longer. I can see Rolex trying on/resurrecting another set of colors i.e Coke.

Resale, you might also see the Batman hold a bit better, which may or may not be part of your consideration.

Good luck!

Thanks @2nastie, I agree with our comments and in the end I did go with the Batman. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Rolex do discontinue the BLNR after they launch the GMT Coke at Basel 2017. Here is an updated collection shot with the BLNR:

Beautiful pickup! And congrats!

Here's hoping too... I've been thinking about a Sub (modern piece perspecitive) for the longest time but the BLNR is quite special. Discontinuing the Batman might push me towards that it before they run out instead haha.

Cheers!
