The only thing that would make this box 100% better was a drop-in replacement insert that allowed the box to hold and display 3 watches on cushions, making using the box on the dresser more viable than all that real estate for displaying one piece.

i was going to say you could take out the all of the inside and fit as many watches as you want with multiple cushions 😀

and i CANNOT believe this but just as i was now checking the box to see if the inside can be stripped out and accidentally discovered that you lift top part and there are 3 slots, one is blanked, second is for the centre watch and 3rd is the bag holder. See the image.

I cant believe i never noticed, it looked sealed.

This box just got even more awesome 😀

Yep, said that above. If only Omega gave or sold an optional top piece w/3 cushions to use it as a display box I wouldn't have mine stashed in a cupboard with all the others. It really is a nice box.

I don't have any number printed on any part of my boxes or the case itself.

This came with my new speedy racing that Kringlily just helped me get. It is beautiful and high quality, they really went for a nice presentation. Cudos Omega! Sorry, I cannot tell if it is veneer or solid wood. It has a high gloss poly that makes it very smooth, protected and high end feeling. Yes, it has the compartments too. Nice enough that veneer or not does not matter!

Have to say... I was disappointed in the new box. The outside felt cheap... IKEA cheap.

could not agree more here....Makes me a bit nuts to spend $5k, 10k, $15k on a watch to get a cheap box........The presentation is a big part of the ownership experience IMO. Rolex is about the worst.....

Not only that. I've seen one in AD with a cleavage. It's made of plywood. Omega could not make solid wood box for multi-thousands watch? So cheap.

The box is great, it costs only 80€/$ ------> BUT. It smells awefully.
Once I left my broad arrow on a leather strap in it for a week......the strap still smells plastyFantasty....

It's definitely nice to have a wooden box but I think the size is a tad too big. Given the vast amount of collectors here, I'm sure you all have multiples Omega and these boxes would quickly adds up, believe me! Been there w/ all those Panerai boxes and it's a huge nightmare!

Any idea about how expensive it would be to produce that amount - more than 500,000 watches per year - of solid wood boxes? Or how different the production process is from making them from veneer? Or how difficult it is to produce an enormous amount of solid wood products which are all of the same production standard and has the exact same visual appeal?

I'm betting no.

Think it will be expensive to do in natural wood, as you say you have to cut it and then wastage from imperfect parts been cut away, it could turn out to be an expensive process and then watch price increases.

I like new box and perhaps it is a little to big for a single watch as mentioned earlier but i am not complaining.

are they available through an AD or just 3rd party sales?
