I think about asking to change my several red boxes. Right now they are in good shape, maybe the boutique would like to get them back😁😁😁😁

Not everybody received the red box.... My Speedmaster Pro purchased in 2001 came with this black presentation box.. Still looks brand new after 14 years...

I never took note of it until now, but yes I've never seen a disintigrated black box

Omega boxes suck for the most part. A wooden box is better for sure, and most of the modern watches I have (or had) came in a proper wooden box. Considering how much prices have increased, they should be doing much better with their boxes.

No longer have it, but I think my Blancpain had the nicest box:

Cheers, Al

In comparison to the asking price for the watches at the Omega Boutique a proper wooden box ready to accept the watch costs next to nothing in China. A friend of mine had boxes for his products made in a similar size of a watch box, solid wood, dovetails and stainless steel polished things - even not burl wood and ebony as with Archer's Blancpain box - for less than 12 US-$.

Some of the joy with collecting watches IMHO is taking those out of the box, look at them and putting them carefully back. Omega has ignored this. And who would not happily pay a premium for a really nice and long lasting box?

@sailingchamp

I often get unsolicited emails from packaging companies in China offering boxes for the watches I make. I already have someone local make them to my specs from local materials (and I pay a lot more than $12!), but I'm sure in quantity they can be had very cheaply made in China. It is amazing how bad the Omega boxes have been. It's not like they wear out or anything, they just fall apart sitting there...

Yeah, and I don't understand why Omega forgive the chance to make it's watches more desirable. A container full of nicely made boxes costs less than some other activities Omega uses to promote their products. Obviously we all like to have the original boxes from the manufacturers, otherwise I would have boxes made for my watches.

I recently bought on ebay Germany a watch winding machine with ample storage for less than 180 US-$ from ferocase-uhrenbox-hersteller. It winds up 8 watches and provides storage for more than 20.

Not sure if it's just master coaxial, or all the new ones, but my new SM300 came with the new box...

Oh yeah... And I got a new SM300...

The only thing is, how many people actually leave it in the box? I normally pull it out and store the box and put the watch into a watch display case. So while paying for a nice box is nifty, I'm not one to actually keep and use the box. Usually the box only see's light when selling it. heh..

it's really surprising how poor these boxers are from rolex and omega. those old red omega boxes from the 90s and early 2000s were so awful, they're almost charming

Me

I am not one for boxes at all. Once they are out that's is.
As I have said before how much stuff we buy these days you need a box kept for. I have a box room full of all the boxes of fishing reels, GPS stuff , electronics, kitchen appliances. It's nearly as annoying as everything that needs a computer to start working these days.

Still have all watch boxes from new and boxed watches I have bought , but once the watch is out, it's the cupboard for years.

Not mentioned is the top bed inside the box flips up without disturbing the displayed watch to reveal an area to store the warranty cards outside the three-level pouch, and a second area deep enough to store another watch or a mess of straps, and which comes with stuffed with a thick felt-like drawstring travel bag. I can't find pix of this 'secret compartment' anywhere the new boxes are discussed, but I just bought a Seamaster Pro last night and received this box, so can attest such is the case.

My understating is that all Omega watches will be evetually presented in this wooden box, when i asked in the omega store, they said that once red boxes are gone.

Does anyone also know this for sure? I am sure omega store were not lying.

Yes that is exactly what's happening. I just got a new Speedy 57 and it too came in the new wooden box. It's gorgeous...
