New 38mm Speedmaster build quality and opinions?

I think they are good watches, with great finishing. I will say my 40mm speedy date feels small even against my vintage 35-36 mm pieces. Knocking 2mm more off is really not my cup of tea. For ladies they are perfect. For the right guy they are perfect at least in the grey version.

But I've said this before the oval date window is what really makes this a ladies watch. If it had a square window the watch would look at more masculine.
I just found out that bezel is actually 36.5mm, but the case is 38mm. I've done some 'photoshop' measurements with my watches and that really might be too small for me.

Hmm... In white it doesn't look too bad. Still not my cup of tea, however.

Hi, i've been checking these out and trying on a whole bunch of them. I also have a small wrist .. about 16.5CM (6.5 in) and really like them including the Orbis one (which I've seen some really polar opinions on), and the grey one with the orange hands.

These days I've been wearing a Tudor BB GMT most of the time, but wanted a chrono that is a little more dressy and a little smaller, easier to fit under a shirt cuff while not going full dress watch.

I must say, I find the style of the original moonwatch iconic, enjoy the history/story, but find it too boring style-wise to include the "standard" one in my current collection (especially with no date). So one day when I've saved up a little more, I can see myself getting a pricier LE/anniversary one, or a vintage etc. But for now, really liking the colors and size of this new collection.

Wondering if interest has faded away on these two years later now, or if opinions have changed? is it something people are still looking at? (maybe I can get one used?)

Thx!
Greg

some pics I took at the OB trying them on....

Personally I鈥檇 only recommend the square date window versions of that watch if your shopping for men鈥檚 watches.

is there a rule that oval date is women's watch? I've never hjeard of that outside of the discussion of the 38mm speedmaster..

It鈥檚 just that those models in many people鈥檚 opinion are more of a feminine style. Omega has also marketed those with a bias towards women also. While I believe they are not listed either way on the website.

The square date window ones look more masculine styled to most people.

well for the ones with the diamonds etc I kind of get it, but the rest are actually explicitly listed as Mens on the Omega website, and for the orbis one, its a picture of a male wearing the watch (so not sure I agree its marketed with a bias toward women).

hahaha part of me wants to just get it, and chalk this up to the "aging" demographic of watch collectors, but part of me is just insecure that I'm wrong lol
