I sent mine to LA watchworks - can't say enough good things about them.

I've had my Speedmaster for 15 years now and worn it regularly.
It should be serviced because over the last few years its started running slower and at the moment sits around - 15 seconds per 24 hours.
So who do you trust unreservedly with your most treasured watch.
Back to Omega or are there good trustworthy independents you can recommend.
Is it likely to damage the movement if not serviced.
Your thoughts appreciated

Maybe Archer could service it for you.

Were do I send my watches without any reservation? Archer. No question. I'd like to find someone closer and I did and will probably take a less valuable/treasured watch to them to assess their work but when it truly counts, Archer or nothing.

Ditto - sent him my most treasured as well.

I'm usually annoyed at needlessly-revived zombie threads but man that first WUS thread was a banger! 😁

Fat chance of that. He’s on the “never do work for” list...

Wish there were more fastidious watchmakers like Archer! I wanted to send my Speedy to him last service, but he was at capacity and not accepting new customers at the time.

I cannot find a consistently good watch repair shop where I live. I scoured AWCI in my major metropolitan city… almost every CW21 and WOSTEP certified watchmaker in town works at one of the gray dealers that are overwhelmed with their workloads and unfortunately seem to rush a lot of jobs. They are (understandably) resistant at letting customers talk to the watchmakers due to their schedules, too.

I know of one great watchmaker who is a long drive away, but their shop’s ops manager routinely hands my watches to the wrong watchmaker. I was once told by said operations manager my Speedmaster was “powder coated” as the beginning of an explanation for why my chrono hand was running the wrong way after a botched service job (they insisted it was not unusual for a 145.022! Can’t make this stuff up…).

Archer has helped me troubleshoot an issue two watchmakers couldn’t figure out in person examining my watch... Really thankful he generously shares his time and knowledge on the forums.

I got in touch with a firm re servicing my 2531.80 yesterday in NW England.
It's running nearly 30 seconds fast/day but starts going as soon as I turn the crown and it feels smooth.
They said they'll get back to me within 5 to 7 days
All the reviews are good which is obviously a big plus.

Oh dang, I looked at those WUS threads and I guess I placed the OP on my ignore list there some time ago. Makes sense he is on another's list.
