Whoa, a bit late to the discussion...
the "dress watch comment" - I will agree, the divers/chronos are not dress watch...
when wearing a tuxedo, if you want to be truly proper, the etiquette is no watch at all...

I will wear a slim patek...with tuxedo, but I will tell you that no one with any class will ever snicker at anyone...
least of all for wearing a luxury time piece...
the last black tie gala I attended, a fellow wore his yachtmaster II.. not even close to being appropriate for the venue, but someone with a >40k watch on his wrist is hardly the butt of anybody's joke...

although I would never snicker at anyone...

CARL!!! I'm calling you out, and reviving this thread....

Did you say that your boutique had the Blue AT in stock?
I made some calls, and was told it is on Back order - hoping for stock in 90 days (this misses the opportunity for it to be under my tree with a big shiny bow on it)...
Does anyone else have any knowledge of actual item in stock.... My mind is more than made up -- I am getting this one - on bracelet with a back up black croc strap

Hey there, Superdoc,

When I was at the Boutique 2 weeks ago, they had 2: one in the window, one in the display case. I went by there last Friday, but didn't go in, and they had one in the window. So as of Friday, at least one.
I certainly don't mind calling them, and asking for you. Or I can give you the contact info.

Bear in mind, I am in Canada. I don't know where you are located, so if not within Canada, you could be looking at Customs and Taxes. The MSRP here is the same dollar amount as the US.

I know how you feel. I was hoping to get mine in October, for my birthday. I am selling a Rolex, and thought I would be finalizing the deal in time. But, alas....

Let me know if I can be of help.

Cheers,
Carl

Carl, I am a fellow canuck...
on the opposite coast - Ontario, but import duties not an issue...
I've got a sweet deal from my local dealer....that I probably wont get from a boutique, but my patience may come at higher price...

also...is the lug width 19mm?

I was going to go aftermarket strap, but if it is 19mm I may be forced to go factory....
(at 350 for the strap and 250 for the deployment clasp...)yikes! - Would have to pay for that one before thinking about it too much or else logic and reason would start to creep into the equation....

I have heard that the lug width is 19mm. Unfortunately, I can't remember which forum it was where I saw the post.
The Boutique definitely will not give any discount. You would probably save the sales tax, though, because it would ship out of province. That would at least pay for the strap. I think you can order the watch with the strap, though, and should not cost more. But maybe you want to have both strap and bracelet?

Cheers,
Carl

The 38.5mm AT does indeed require a 19mm. The best source I've found with a broad selection of reasonably priced quality straps in 19mm is http://www.debeerwatchbands.com/crocodile-watch_band-matte.html. (debeerwatchbands.com) I'd think their havana gator would look great with blue dial. Since most of their straps are 115/75mm, you'll be better off with one of their deployants (also very good and inexpensive) than with the OEM.

If you want the OEM look for $200ish, peter.watchacc, who posts regularly in TZ's sales forum, will make you a very nice 19/18 or 19/16 gator with your choice of stitch color and thickness that is the same length as the OEM (105/100) for $160.

edit: I've deleted reference to what had been reported as a good aftermarket deployant that is nearly identical to the OEM due to recent posts elsewhere that the one's being distributed are quite inadequate.

Hey there, Superdoc!
I was at the Boutique on Thursday night. I had an invite to the pre-screening of Skyfall, with first a cocktail reception at the Boutique. Very nice evening indeed.
Anyway...they still had 2 of the AT models with blue dial if you are still interested.
Just thought I would pass that along.
Have a great weekend.
Cheers,
Carl

I was in an Omega AD today and they had the blue dial HV in stock, but not the blue dial AT. That blue HV is a STUNNING watch in person. If I had the money I would have walked out with one today....

Superdoc, as the new guy guess I can ask.... how did it turn out? Did you get the Blue AT? Did it meet your expectations? Lastly, this may not be the place in the forum but why did you go with the Co-Axial movement? Have done a lot of research on the Co-Axial and there are the advocates and the haters ( 7 beats per second, leads to inherently less accuracy, etc).

That's a myth perpetuated by novices who don't understand a watch movement very much. There are MANY more variables to account for than just the BPH rate. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I do know a little more than the average Joe. If given the choice to commision my ultimate watch I'd want a 21,600 bph caliber.

Well I have seen both too. The hour vision reminded me of the ocean in Greece. The DeVille I do not favor maybe because of the fact my mother always has had Roman numerals for markers? The Hour Vision is kind of like a dressier aqua terra with a little bit of sport to it? I like the hour vision more. Of course this is coming from the person who questioned the speedmaster and now I love it more than any Omega.

Running the risk of going off topic, which Speedmaster do you have? What is it you like about it that makes it your favorite. Picking up my first Omega on Friday, a Speedy Date Panda, 3304 calibre.

No problem ask away I am not the expert. I just love omega's. The original Speedmaster professional moonwatch is my favorite. Of course I do not use chrono at all. But just the overall vintage / classic look to it. Winder's scared the hell out of me because I received an old manual wind from my brother in law and it never kept good time. That was the only thing that held me back. I always go back to the speedmaster. I googled that Panda watch. it looks like the old Paul Newman Rolex. Very cool.

I suppose I should have closed the loop...
went with the AT after seeing it in Skyfall ...
also bought a black strap, but haven't yet put it on... The bracelet looks sooo nice...
I find the size near perfect, although it starts to look small in shirt sleeves.
U understand that Daniel Craig has very slight wrists....
the dial is amazing and with the antireflection, the texture and the Colour really pop!
You just can't capture it well enough in pictures.

I recently picked up a VC overseas chronograph ...and I can honestly say that the modern omegas are just as beautifully and perfectly finished...

🥰 my AT, but the above opinion might change under magnification. Not that the new Omegas are bad, but I suspect you're basing your feelings on how they both look to the naked eye.

Thanks! Speedmasters do have classic looks, one of the key points for me. The Moonwatch seems to be a favorite of a lot of people.

I have an Ebel 1991 BTR (e137 inhouse movement) with a black face and cream colored sundials and it is a favorite of mine. When I decided to buy a first Omega, narrowed it down to the Speedmaster, then saw the Panda. White face with black sundials. Will fit right into the collection.

Yes-- totally agreed!...I am afraid to look at any of my watches with a loupe - I would undoubtedly find micro scratches and flaws that would haunt me everytime I looked at them...I prefer I life of blissful ignorance...

Just imagine how loveley it is to live in a world where you think your Omega is flawless and at the level of a VC...

Also, just pure injection of emotion goes a long way -- I love Omega on a different level...Much the way my parents feel about my siblings compared to me...
