Just looking at your avatar Superdoc... Damn I LOVE Hour Visions, and yours in RG on bracelet is absolutely epic. Seriously, that over a Day-Date any day of the week. You have to take some good pics and make a new thread about it!

back to more serious matters... you've seen them both side by side...is it the same Blue on the Dial?

Different blues. Compared them today. They are close, but not the same. The Hour Vision blue is a little more intense, the standard Deville is a little more gray and slightly "warmer." I hope this helps.

Regards,
Jon

The chrono has a very clean dial. The center disc is satin and the ring under the numerals is brushed. The numerals are faceted so catch the light. I prefer the solid brushed case sides. The blue changes depending on the light. The bracelet is very comfortable.

Jon - thanks for the update -- It had helped me make up my mind....
until these photos were posted....

I guess I'll just have to go into a boutique (local dealers don't carry these, but state that they can 'get them in')... I am hooked on blue though....so it'll be the one that sings the most...

I have tried on the Orbis Hour Vision many times, and love it! You would rarely find a more beautiful dial. One of Omega's most beautiful watches, IMO.

I agree on the clear/crystal on the sides of the Hour Vision. I don't think they add anything to the looks, but I heard they just allowed more light into the case.

Nothing wrong with having 2 watches of the same model, your first one is RG anyway.

Have you given any thought to the Seamaster Aqua Terra with the new blue dial? It is MSRP $5500. Only available in 38.5mm though, although for me it's an ideal size.

This is definitely one watch that has to be tried on. It is really quite stunning on the wrist.

Cheers,
Carl

Carl...you've ruined and made my day...
that AT is stunning, and the fact that its the new Bond watch doesnt hurt...
the size may be a factor, but it is within the range ...what movement is in that one?
if its the 8500it is a strong contender...

Hi Superdoc,

Yes, it is the beautiful 8500 movement. Here is a link to a thread on another forum, a guy there just bought one, so are shots in the real world:
http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/hold-my-new-skyfall-763961.html

(I am really liking this forum. I can post links to other threads in other forums - which is to illustrate a point, and to help other members out - without worrying if I am doing the wrong thing or not. And even mention a price! Did I mention that the AT8500 is MSRP USD5500. Same in CAD.)

I looked at the Orbis Hour Vision many times. For me, although it's very comfortable, it is the size. Just a bit too big. Then the Sales Associate showed me the AT8500. It has no negative aspects IMO. If I had the money, I would have it by now. They have 2 at the local Omega Boutique.

Anyway, if you get a chance, do take a look.

Cheers,
Carl

Just to confuse things, one of the best pics of the hour vision (credit to Perseus at WUS)...

If you want to stick with rose gold (though it is also available in ss), the new 9300-equiped deville chrono is gorgeous...

Finally, I hesitate to post it, but if you're willing to consider a lesser-brand and don't mind the oversized fluted bezel (that produces a constant light show), another 41mm option with a very nice starburst blue dial...

Those are all gorgeous! I have tried on the Orbis many times. It was a tossup between that and the new AT8500 for my next Omega, but the AT8500 wins.
Rolex does a beautiful blue sunburst dial as well. I got an Air-King about a year ago, with the silver dial. I have been wishing that I had got the blue dial. The silver just doesn't suit me for some reason.
That Datejust II is really beautiful, too. I like the leather strap that you put on it a lot as well. I always think that the fluted bezel is a class act by Rolex.

I saw the DeVille chrono at the Boutique and it is stunning. And yes, that is the best pic of the Orbis I have seen. When I tried it on, I realized that it doesn't have any lume at all. I kind of like that, as it looks so much better on the dial with just the silver and the blue.

Cheers,
Carl

I have a DJ II - rhodium dial...
have to say I love it on leather...

the Skyfall AT has suddenly become the front runner, the deVille prestige has fallen out of the race...

I think I would love to see that AT on black leather....

As a side note...was it the HV blue that Daniel Craig was wearing at the Skyfall premiere?
looked great with the blue tux...

.
That would be my choice. I would not be surprised if the others take a sales hit as the AT becomes more recognized. 👍

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the Orbis HV and the AT 8500. I must admit, although I say my heart is set on the AT, when I start to look at the HV, I begin to wonder all over again:

Well, one of these days I will be able to get one or the other. Meantime, it's a Hell of a lot of fun speculating and discussing!

Just another note, and I don't know if this is a big deal or not to you guys, it isn't to me: neither the AT Oribs nor (I believe) the AT Coaxial have lumed hands or markers, but the AT 8500 does. Personally, I prefer the cleaner look without the white lume. I know on the forums, that great lume is very important to a lot of folks, so that is why I am bringing it up. Just saying.
Cheers,
Carl

Does the new AT have micro-adjustments on the bracelet or clasp?

I don't believe so. It has the buttefly clasp, so I think the only way to adjust it is by removing/adding links.

Yeah, I know that - but the bracelet looks great on that watch.

Well, looks like I ruined your day, and Supedoc's yesterday! 😝

I have to agree. For some reason, the HV is best with the strap. But the AT looks just perfect on the bracelet.

Actually, I had a Calibre de Cartier with the same type of clasp, and also the links were held with screws. I adjusted it a few times, with adding/removing links and half links. Didn't find the task too cumbersome.

Now that we're getting into the finer details, I did notice a couple of things when comparing the AT and HV. I'm beginning to see a couple of things that make me think I might prefer the HV now! I'm not crazy about the extra $1700 I would be spending. Probably a good thing that I can't afford either right now. I tend to be on the impulsive side, so maybe it's good that I have the time on my side now.

Cheers,
Carl

Carl...now you're just trying to antagonize...

Who out there is good with photo shop?

I'd love to see the AT on a black leather put next to the HV....otherwise I'll get it into my head that they are so different that I will just get both!
