Negatives: Very much missing my musician friends and our weekly jam sessions. Very much missing the occasional “money” gig. Getting a taste of retirement, and that sucks. Trying to fulfill Mrs. Canuck’s weekly shopping list by having to visiting several stores. Haven’t found sauerkraut or lychee fruit for weeks. Bummer on the sauerkraut! 52.9 cents per litre gasoline, and I can’t go anywhere, and my mower only burns 4 litres per season. My two-month old beard itches like crazy under a mask!

Positives: Spending 15 to 20 hours per week playing the fiddle (thank Heaven for that), and learning new tunes, and re-visiting old faves. I did the most comprehensive yard clean up our yard has had for years (no, wait, that belongs in the negatives 😀). Time to work on my collection (maintenance-wise). It’s summer, (well, almost!) Able to drive my hobby car again. I can’t decide if my new appearance looks more like a Ernest Hemingway, or Kenny Rogers. Still healthy!

Haircut and beard trim yesterday at a Barbershop. 👍👍
Think they are still cleaning the hair up.

We're pretty much doing the same thing as we did before the outbreak. Sweden.

If I'm gonna see one good thing in all of this it's gotta be the environment who getting an energy boost.. Pretty fantastic how quick we can see differences in nature and in the wildlife behaviour.

Have a great day

The sky is unbelievably clear with the most beautiful blue, honestly never expected to see such a difference.

What lock-down? I spent two weeks at self quarantine (working from home) after the co-workers' wife was suspected to have a virus.
Being essential personal - no time for playing around, helping to keep US food and medical industries running.

My steps for a haircut:
1. Put on No. 1 fence.
2. Cut until hair stops falling.
3. Remove guard and trim neck.
4. Get wife to inspect for missed spots (about 60% failure rate [that's 60% of the haircuts, not 60% of the hair!]).
5. Remember to replace No. 1 fence.
6. Trim missed spots.

I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten step 5 and had to redo the entire cut with no guard. 😟

they got trimmers now that you have a toggle on the handle to raise and lower the guard/fence...just saying 😀

Yeah, actually it does. I set the fine adjustment to the lowest, then add the fence. The adjustment alone at highest setting cuts about half as high; a little too short for my liking.

BTW, just gave myself another one yesterday, WITHOUT SCREWING UP!! ::psy::

You should definitely try making your own sauerkraut. It is extremely easy and tastes great. I've done it a few times and also tried adding cumin to it once which was a great succes.

The Mrs and I have been talking about this a lot, and count ourselves incredibly lucky. House is sorted, we have no immediate dependants who need a lot of support and we're pretty comfortable and self sufficient in the main.

Some positives.
* We decided we're not stressing about anything we cannot control past the front door. All we have to do is sit here at home and try not to get too fat, while our very much braver mates working on the front lines contend with this thing. We will throw them a hell of a party when its over.
* We're both healthy - daily exercise sessions ( stop sniggering at the back) also means we're able to maintain a decent level of positivity.
* The garden has been gardened to within an inch of its life, we figured since fairly soon both of us may be bouncing around here, may as well make it comfortable ( if you do one thing during lockdown, buy a hammock, thank me later).
* I've re-discovered my interest in vinyl, so have been building a little system which has been fun.
* I've taken the time to wave spanners at things and actually enjoyed it.
* I've got a new car to look at, which is just gathering dust.
* I'm doing a fair bit of reading and career planning, which is nice...

Some negatives:
* I was made redundant just before all this started thanks to brexit rather than the virus. I could not be furloughed even though legal advisers said this was an easy option, was a shame. I don't think they will ever count brexit related job losses, another big shame.
*The Mrs is currently furloughed, with her national (22k+ staff )company imploding as it that relies on client sites being open. We are expecting redundo's in the next month or so, but with little or no package.
*First world problem - Our first proper holiday in 2 years was cancelled due to the virus. I was at my ragged edge with finishing work and redundo looming so that was a bit of a gut punch. We are now having arguments with the agent about returning my money.
* First world problem - I picked a hell of a time to buy a new car. So far its just gathering dust.
* I'm going to have a massive Costco bill next time I visit.
* My hair looked ridiculous even before the lockdown, I am beyond the help of clippers.

Anyway. Sun is shining and we're healthy. Things could be worse. All vinyl recommendations greatly appreciated.

Well one of my daughters agreed to cut my hair this evening, at least she didn't carve her initials 😁
Seriously it is a lot better than it was and given some practice 🤔

Since you were brave enough to show your lockdown do, I will too. It is the haircut, that my wife gave me, I mentioned in my earlier post. Only posting cuz I still don't have to post my ugly mug..... hmmmmm, maybe these back of the head shots could be a "thing" on this thread.

My last haircut and beard trim was at the end of February. I always had my barber trim my beard, so I never got a trimmer. I don't think I've ever looked this shaggy.

Plus: My own finances are not too badly affected. Income is unaffected, just some investments lost some of their value.
The daughter's job continued, reduced hours for April but not sent home entirely.
I'm really appreciating the reduced traffic, the quiet from fewer flights, and how much cleaner the city is.
Doing some house organizing (however no place to take donations right now)

Minus: Kinda makes me uneasy going to a big store now and seeing lots of people, even when they're isolating pretty well.
Really missing theatre, and hoping the theatre companies survive.
Same with restaurants.
I guess I'm going to have to get a mask. I don't really think it'll do much, especially with the super long beard. But it's getting to be like the only person in town who doesn't pray to the volcano god.

I only meant the two quoted issues 😁

I should add that because the day care institutions were closed for more than a month, we were forced to take care of our 2 1/4 year ourselves which meant that she got more attention than she used to and has become much more secure on her feet and now loves being outside, playing in the garden and so on.
2 years old!! Time flies!

Two weeks gone by and it must be down to my clean living but my hair has been growing fast so today my stylist (daughter) agreed to follow my wishes 👍

Me singing a song about not being able to find a barbershop open near me

...oh, wait, that's just 2006 John Mayer. But it might as well be me 😝

Also, side note: (most of you probably already know) the man has great taste in watches and is IMHO perhaps the greatest living guitarist. Purely subjective, but I like what I like

You could make several nice straps from that vintage neck!
@Duracuir1 is doing some real nice work with old skins.
