All in all, I ran through 20+ watches this year, and here is what I kept, although the 18k chronometre is on the chopping block...

There are some very, very nice watches in this thread! This forum seems to have a nicely diverse range of (good) tastes!

I knew that I would be moving house in August, so I stopped buying last December. Collecting caught up with me in a big way. In only four months, I managed to find some pieces I had sought for years.

A few others are still in the shop, but these mark the high points.

May 2016 bring everyone the straps, buckles, and handsets they want! 😀

...Now I really REALLY think I'm done for the year. My watch fund is SO depleted. Recovery begins in two weeks 😉
Pfft...right.

Okay, last one this year because it's the last day of the year. And Hey @oddboy look at those non-flat pushers!
In a thread comparing Tissot to B&M, someone posted a pic of their white dial Capeland and piqued my interest. When I saw the one I ended up buying, well, clearly I fell HARD.
Checking accuracy/power reserve/date and chronograph function before I strap it on my wrist. Sorry for the crappy "smart phone in the office under fluorescent lights" pic.

It was a roller-coaster year for me. At the beginning of the year, I made the firm decision to stick to a defined list for buying watches for my collection - project watches were outside of this and as an ardent tinkerer, there have been several of those.

On the personal front, I got engaged to my best friend - it only took us 12 1/2 years to realise what was meant to be. Then my sister finally lost her battle with cancer two days before Christmas, so big emotions in both ways.

2016 is going to be a big year for me - not least, the wedding - but also because I am planning a big move. Some on here know what that is but the rest of you will have to wait a few months to find out.

Enough of the rhetoric, here are the two highlights of my collecting year albeit neither are Omega.

Zenith El Primero A 386 that has been with a watchmaker for the last 8 months:

..... and Zenith Platinum Elite Chronomaster:

Happy 2016 to all.

Bought 5, my Movado Astronic spent a day on the wrist before heading to watchmaker. So no pics yet.

Speedy 145.012, Flightmaster Ghostflight from one of our own, Seiko SKX-007 with Atlas mod, Florijn Twee Diver

Congratulations and condolences at the same time, Stewart. Wow.

Just out of curiosity, what's the holdup with the 386? Just a busy watchmaker or is it a search for parts?

Cheers

Thanks.

It is a parts issue and a watchmaker with a good reputation. We all want our watches back ASAP but would worry if the watchmaker didn't have a sizable backlog to show their worth.

Thanks. I understand and know long waits come with the territory. I'm just trying, for watches or brands I'm interested in, to get a feel for the degree of maintenance difficulty.

This year I acquired my first Seiko, very impressed by the build quality. Didn't expect to wear it as much as I do.
