Is there a better PP than 5960 in this bracket?

Both stunning watches, the blue and red really stands out, the grey is classy. I prefer either of those to the other watches people have suggested.

The way you guys chat about buying a £50k watch is surreal. Never in my wildest dreams will I achieve that level of success!

I agreed, it’s not a convo ones casually have with friends and family.
It’s stunningly pretentious; and most of us know that :)
For that reason OF is an awesome place to “logically” discuss “values” for this sort of things.

It’s also a thinning out process for me, I have hoard quite a few extra wrist blings over 20 years, many of these (especially those wearing the crown) up 4x over the last 5 years. To me, my out of pocket cost is something like, $15k. Trading away 3-4 pieces I no longer wear for a discontinued Patek grail, seems fair.

Here’s where it gets even ickier, $50k for a chrono, annual calendar, in precious metal, from Patek is somewhat a bargain, and I expect the piece to appreciate.

^^^ It’s also the pitch I convinced my wife with.

Any Patek is quite special. I was at a Patek AD this morning and got try on a number of them. I would recommend the gray dial personally, the shimmer and sunburst pattern of the dial is stunning while the blue is more flat.

Here is a picture of mine, the 5205g. I have never seen a picture do the dial justice.

I went to Patek just for informal visit and check the status of an order.
Discussing with the sales person about the alternative to Nautilus, I mentioned the 5960 and he brought me the very last one, available for sales. Quite a rare occasion to directly get a PP !
I tried it with the brown strap but it looks way nicer with a blue strap, see below.
Thus, this reference has just stopped and already out of the latest catalog.

Beautiful. I’ll have to hunt this pre-owned for price discrepancy, although prices are quickly climbing up too. Beginning of this year, blue 5960 for $45k, they are now going near $55k.
Tiffany in Honolulu also has a new Blue dial.
It seems new stock still avail pretty readily. It won’t be scarce for another year or two.
I expect the steel 5960 to be hard to find than precious metals.
Black dial steel is already a unicorn. White are still trading around MSRP.

MSRP for white gold/ blue dial is $70k in Paris but you can indeed find it at approx $53k which made me wonder if it was worth buying a new one from PP directly. Having my name on the certificate for $17k...well, not for me.

Buying retail and being a registered owner opens up access to pieces that are by allocation. So if someone wants just a single piece, one that is less than MSRP on the secondary market, then the choice is obvious.

I bet if you offer somewhere near $45k, you'll get a favorable respond.

I am already registered as an official PP customer/owner with other models.
Note that you cannot ask to be on waiting list for an Aquanaut or Nautilus anymore if you are not already registered by PP...and of course, you need to be resident...
I assume these rules are valid worldwide.

Oh, you can certainly ask! ;)

This tracks for Northern California, from my experience at least. Patek is famous for being directly involved in customer sales decisions at the upper end of the grand comp level, but any pieces in high demand (or that show valuations higher than MSRP on the secondary market) seem to follow a similar level of customer inspection/review before an allocation is made.

that version looks really exceptional all in all. just that two red hands spoils the whole balance of the design.
