I know: Omega and Rolex go head to head. But Omega:

This thing is not actually real....is it?
I've seen pictures floating around, but I just assumed it was Photoshopped together

I did just check the date, but not April yet ;0)

Because it's just more Rolex being Rolex. as @Aroxx stated this is essentially a straight copy off of Autism Awareness, and yet Rolex makes no mention of that whatsoever. They *could* make this about any number of things, and instead it's just an absurdly priced lifestyle piece.

I think the color usesage is rather pretty, especially with the white gold case and blue dominant face. But it's also TOO much. the emoji date wheel, the clever saying DoW wheel- who is this supposed to appeal to? People who support autism? People who support LGBTQ? Emoji obsessed millenials? It's got something for all of those groups without specifically saying what it's for. And if it isn't in support of autism, then it's just sorta tone deaf to steal their existing design.

I hope that makes sense.

Not trying to troll, but I don't understand the overwhelming negative response. I get that aesthetics/taste are subjective, but this particular watch seems to have really, truly pissed people off. Is it just because it's an anti-useful watch?

I almost read it as a way of Rolex having fun. The Deepsea, a watch capable of going *literally* deeper than the deepest ocean (humming old songs now), is just as literally useless, as this new watch. Most of our watches are, in fact, not used to their full capacity, of course; I'm presently waiting while one of my daughter's in ballet class, and my 20ATM watch is...not...useful. Great for telling the time and looking good, but not for anything like its intended purpose.

I think the watch is great--I don't have the money or connections for one, but it blows my mind to think of the incredibly utilitarian engineers at Rolex tasked with developing this not just *useless* watch but a watch that seems almost anti-useful (again, though: I'd love to hear someone offer a strident defense for the utility of a watch capable of going deeper than any spot on earth). I like it for the same reason I like many silly things: it's interesting and fun and shows an appreciation for serious play. The way people respond to this--as if insulted--feels almost defensive, as if no one wants to have to admit they don't need all the Tool Watch elements we all are drawn to.

YES!! I like it. I don’t give a shit if I’m the only one. 😝

My question is if any of that Rolex money is going to autism research or did they just completely rip off the design?

Yes! I totally agree, that is the Autism Awareness symbol. I would like to think that Rolex would contribute money if not already agreed.

If Rolex have not maybe they need a reminder as they did to the Oyster Pop clock company… as the saying goes what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Although I like the bubble dial DJ, I think this is awful. Not because of the emojis date or cringeworthy inspirational words for days, it’s just looks badly done. The dial has been executed terribly.

Fratello got their hands on one and put up a video, but they're unsure if it was made as an April fools joke or if it's real. the Rolex forums seem to be convinced it is, indeed, a production model.

JUST SAY NO!

Straight up, it's dogshit but...

if I had fυck You money, which I do not, I would buy this in a NY Second for my wife ~ who would also 50/50 detest/love it.

For me, it's playful yet reflects our times (emojis and soft rounded innocence with lethal & often brutal nastiness -read, The Internet in general... not to mention the sad fact that much of the Net is driven by financial flexing, all of which is pathetically & accurately built into this watch design).

It's horrible yet fun yet brutal.

Guys, it could always be worse. At least this one doesn't have PALM FRONDS on the dial. 😁

Truth!

My wife calls the Palm Fronds dial, "The Florida Casket Dial" which is pretty damn balls accurate.

That's what the designers at Rolex were smoking when they came up with this mess.

My eyes! The agony!

To me this Rolex is no less an act of sensory violence that those hypercolorful 90s leather jackets.

I’d rather wear an actual puzzle on my wrist.

I thought it was a fundraising collaboration when I first saw it. It doesn’t seem to be the case so I’m not very excited about that.

I can see why people hate it. I mean, look at it. But also, chill out and let your hair down. It’ll be okay. Nobody needs the day or date on a watch. Most collectors don’t like them anyway. So it’s cool to have some fun crap on there instead.

Maybe Oyster&Pop should be suing Rolex now for copying their colourful designs.

For the "WonderBread" new release they should!

Sorry, the second part of my comment was directed at the people nay saying on the emojis and date wheel and in general. I didn’t want to double post. The first part was in response to your comment and we are in agreement. I don’t like that they basically ripped off the design and don’t appear to be donating or collaborating for the cause.

#unpopular opinion, I know, but this is probably the only modern Rolex I’d consider wearing. Just because it’s not serious. Except for the price tag, of course. And availability, presumably.
