The lower pusher cap needs attention before you lose it.

They sell conical rubber plugs to be used for removing lens elements in vintage lenses. I use them all the time. They are pretty inexpensive and come in various diameters, nested. They do allow considerable torque without fear of damaging anything. While they may not be useful for opening badly stuck screw in back, they are useful for less severely stuck backs.

Best,
Wayne

The best case opener that will never leave a mark is Bergeon 8008.

True, but the Bergeon 8008 will also never open a correctly secured caseback.

If one does not know how to open a case back……….then it’s probably better that they don’t attempt to!
If you don’t know how to open it, what would you do in there anyway?
A bit like a dog chasing car……… he wouldn’t know what to do with it, when he caught it!
Not a place to learn watchmaking. Especially on a highish value piece like a Speedmaster.

Better to start with junk watches and work your way up to working cheapies…. Then once you can pull them apart and they still work when you’ve put them back together.

Then you should realise that anything of real value is probably best left to a pro.

That’s not to say you can’t or shouldn’t teach yourself how to work watches, it’s fun to learn, but not to risk patients you can’t afford to kill.
You can expect quite a few casualties going through the learning process.

It might, however, twist a gold Constellation medallion out of a steel case back. Which is something a regular opening tool would fail to “achieve”. Credit where credit’s due. 😁

Hi, thank you for all advices. I will take the watch to a watchmaker. I have gently cleaned the watch but there is some weird blue color on the caseback. I Sony know how to get rid of it. Any tips how to get rid of it.
Can someone help me verify the model and estimate value so I know how careful I have to be with the watch. Thank you in advance

Another one for Pahawi, it works great without damage to the caseback.

Leave the blue stuff. It is original case protection and some collectors like it.

Hey Now!!!

@Mackan1337 , you can't just open an account, start the engine with your questions (VALUE!!), and then put in a sales ad on another platform!!

And asking in this post how to open and other crap.... and what did the watchmaker say about your watch??🙄

These people try and help-out here the best they can,
they are honest and real enthusiasts that give you kind and helpful advises!!!

NOT OK!!!:whipped:

Well, this happens all the time, and there's no law or rule against it. People drop by to take advantage of forum expertise as a way to maximize their profit. It's unavoidable, but one of the reasons that members are often a bit standoffish or skeptical with new members who don't introduce themselves and provide context for their questions.
