How Many Speedmasters Do You Own?

I've never felt the need to know the exact time, never had to 'synchronise' watches nor be anywhere or do anything where a few seconds, more or less, mattered.

As far as I’m concerned, 'time' is a fairly general concept and I love my vintage watches for their looks rather than their accuracy - I can always re-set them if need be.

I really like the way you describe about time; a profound statement in a very simple way. Thanks for posting your thoughts. Regards

4.
I try to have a maximum of differences between my speedies. Until now, I have 4 different dials, 4 different calibers, 4 different backs, 4 different glasses... For the next one (I really don't know when... but I know which one I want...!), it will differ with all others by the dial, the back, the pushers, the crown, and the hands...
That's the game I play! 😗

And what I prefer, when my friends have a quick look to mine, is that they say : "but... you stupid!... 4 times the same watch!..."

You never really own a Speedmaster; you just take care of it for the next generation.

That's a nice tight trio, covers the main themes of Speedmaster dials.

I’m missing a meteorite panda though...
Also could use an Alaska Project, and I miss my Silver Snoopy that I sold to pay for home repairs a couple or three years back (time flys).

Have a trio I’m happy with.
2998-62 (to me the 2998 is the icon, nice when you want more firepower)
Ed White (great daily wearer)
145022-69 with pulsations bezel (mint and bought for bezel really) almost never wear because of the condition.
Your 2998-62 is my birth year watch

I had a total of four, sold two, am contemplating selling one more, and will hang on to my 1969 Straight Writing since they are quite rare.

Two..2998-6 and a Tropical DON 145-22-69 (I have its bracelet as well). Bought em because they sang to me. I have little intent to restore the 2998-6. I like it’s imperfections. Ironically, when I was a frequent business visitor to London, it was often with me. Perhaps I should have dropped it with STS or Simon. Never got round to it.

My thinking (counter clockwise):

1. Each one should start with the manual winding Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. Classic black dial chronograph with tachymeter scale and steel bracelet.

2. 60th Anniversary Trilogy even if also a manual wind black dial chronograph with tachymeter scale and steel bracelet is visually different and has a different vibe.

3. Speedy Tuesday is almost like the Speedy Pro but the reverse panda dial and nato strap makes it different enough.

4. Moonphase is different since automatic and leather strap as well as the additional complications: date and moonphase. It has a display caseback also.

5. CK2998 even if manual wind and leather strap is different because of the blue panda dial plus the pulsometer. And it wears small.

6. Rattrapante even with a black dial (actual seems like carbon fiber) and steel bracelet is different enough since automatic and has the split second function (and the additional pusher that comes with it). It is also quite thick.

7. Triple Date/Calendar is blue dial, automatic and has a complete calendar function. And it looks small.

8. Racing has a white dial and only two registers in addition to being automatic and having a date function. Plus it’s huge.

so each of these stainless steel timepieces is unique in itself.

3 for me.

For the first one originally had the choice of getting Tintin or Sapphire Sandwich but as it was the wedding gift I let the wife choose...

For the second I was in Japan and was looking for Speedy Tuesday 2 but had already gone up and out of budget but was able to find my second choice of the Rising Sun.
The number available happened to be the anniversary date too.

Third one was really to complete the trio, the blue/silvery white panda to complement the black and the red/sand-blasted grey.
