Two weeks ago I decided to check my Mark ii reissue on accuracy . Over the two week span the watch averaged a consistent + 1.7 seconds a day .

1861 - last 60 days
slowest +1
fastest +3.9
Wow. I wish my 1861 was that good! Mine is only 9 months old and it's been consistently +9/day. It's within specs technically so there's little I can do without voiding the warranty or sending it in with the hope that they would make it better. And there's no guarantee of that. But I still love it.

My best Omega is about +1.5 SPD and the worst is about -11 SPD. The others are all within the COSC standard. They are all serviced every 5 years or so.

I check my Speedmaster against the Toolwatch app every couple weeks. Granted, this is not the most scientific way to measure, but it’s about as scientific as I’m going to get. My results always go something like this, as c/p’d from their follow up email ~

Hurray Peter !
We are happy to share with you the results for the accuracy of your timepiece!

Your Omega Speedmaster Professional 1861 is running at -1.0 seconds per day.

If you get it adjusted for wear at a boutique or authortized dealer, it won't void your warranty. An adjustment like this is nothing for a decent watchmaker.

I’ve never had any that were bad, even my vintage ones did very well but the absolute best I’ve had was my 2225.80 Calibre 1164 (ETA7750 base) which ran like an absolute gem.

My SMP with the 8800 movement is at +1 or better. My Omega's with the 8800 or 8900 have been the most accurate mechanical watches I have ever owned bar none. A lot of bang for the buck if you are into accurate movements, far better than my Rolex's over my ownerships.

I've only bought Omega used, but I have had good luck so far. I just picked up a used 3594 with unknown service history, but it's running at +5 sec a day. Not bad for a 20-year-old 1861.

I tried to cover as much as I could in the forums about this ... but I am still a bit unsure of what to do.

My 1861 is about 2 months old ... it ran consistently +2/ day for the first 2 weeks .. and eventually it ran about +4 ... but i noticed recently its gaining about +20- +25s/day ... I have kept the watch wound most of the time perhaps it lay unwound in the box for 2-3 days ... I wear the watch all the time except for night time which is when I wind it fully ...i have kept it face up 3o clock down / up this week with no gain / loss in time. I also never have the chrono on either

I am checking using atomic time app and time grapher app which are both returning the pretty much the same result .... i use the combination for all my other watches for quite

Should I wait to see if it settles ? or is it really unusual .... its a bit annoying to see that my 500$ seiko alpinist consistently run within +5secs out of the box for the last 3 years ...

I'm about +5 per day on my AT

I'd rather be plus than minus

I used my former quartz Seamaster professional to set the time on time.gov.

Sounds like it's magnetized.

Same. In most things.

My Seamasters are all very accurate, with the 2018 SMP Diver running just under +1spd. FOIS began at +3spd and now runs a bit quicker, depending on position and if it's on my wrist, at between +4 and +6spd. The SMs are among my most accurate watches, alongside a Pelagos and IWC Spitfire auto, which runs at a pretty spectacular +4 per calendar month.

I may as well report in, as I am a fastidious tracker of my watches' timekeeping.

Cal. 500 (Seamaster made in 1957): -90 sec/day -- watch is in shop for standard service after recent purchase.
Cal. 520 (Seamaster made in 1960): -50 sec/day -- watch is due for service, just set it a couple of minutes ahead when I wear it.
Cal. 1516 (Constellation Marine Chronometer made in 1975): -2.4 sec/month -- out of spec but I'm not bothered, watch due for service.
Cal. 1128 (50th Anniversary Seamaster GMT, 1999 Gerry Lopez Japan SE): -9 sec/day -- out of spec, set it fast when I wear it, due for service.
Cal. 1861 (Hesalite Moonwatch, made in 2014): +4 sec/day -- in spec and running like a 'pseudo chronometer'
Cal. 1861 (Apollo-Soyuz 35th Anniv "Speediorite" made in 2010): -7 sec/day -- in spec, I just set it a minute or two ahead when I wear it.
Cal. 2500 (SMP): +4 sec/day -- in spec.
Cal. 8500 (AquaTerra "Master Coaxial Chronometer" : +7 sec/day -- out of spec, watch is six years old, probably ready for service.
Cal. 8500 (Planet Ocean) +4 sec/day -- in spec.
Cal. 8507 (Aqua Terra 15'000 Gauss): -10 sec/day: -- considerably out of spec, watch is in shop for repair of hour-jump complication.
Cal. 8520 (Mrs. Jones' Ladymatic Chronometer) : -30 sec/day, way out of spec, watch is six years old and due for service.
Cal. 8520 (Mrs. Jones' Titanium P.O.): -0.9 sec/day, in spec.
Cal. 8800 (Seamaster Edizione Venezia "Coaxial Master Chronometer"): +0.5 sec/day -- in spec.

Sounds like it's magnetized.

the professional moonwatch does have an anti magnetic case shield /dust cover doesnt it ? if so I cant recall any high magnetic exposure ...we are under lockdown here in Toronto! Maybe its been close to some soundbars, phones and laptops but getting magnetized by a small home appliances while other watches dont seems a bit unrealistic ... does that happen?

Yes - easy enough to get it demagnetized and see if the rate returns to normal.

Same thing happened with my Speedy FOIS. Fortunately, the fix was quick and easy: a cheap demagnetiser bought off eBay. Make sure you watch some videos first re correct way to use it before trying to demagnetise your watch.

How are you measuring this?
