My recently acquired '67 Speedy (145.012) is accurate to within 2 seconds per day. I can barely believe that a watch this old can still keep such incredible time, especially when I've been told that this vintage should be good for no better than a minute or two per day.

How accurate is your vintage Speedy?

My 145.022-76 beats my 2 COSC watches on winders. Pretty scary but it's the only watch I don't adjust ever as long as I wind it in the morning. It was off by about 30 seconds once when I let it run 48 hours between winds 3 days in a row

I find that mine runs a bit fast (10-20 s/d) when fully wound, but is just perfect when about half wound...

I think these movements were very carefully assembled. Of the half dozen between 1970 and 1988 I've put on the Timegrapher, the beat errors have all been 0 or 0.1 ms. It hasn't been hard to time them within 2-3 s/d.

My serviced 105.012-65 is good - within 10 sec or so; my 105.003-63 NEEDS a service bad and is -90 sec in the crown up and +5 to +10 in the crown down positions... so, yeah. Scheduled to go in this fall.

Also my Seamaster 14363-61 with cal. 321 is bang on, so these movements are really robust when properly serviced regulated.

My 145.022-69 is running +15-35 seconds. I don't know the service history. I was told it was serviced about 2 years ago when I purchased it.

I've been timing all my watches lately in different positions. As rennfahrer says above, the position can matter. The brand new Orient and 10-year-old Oris don't seem to matter too much. The 1969 Speedmaster and 1966 Constellation do matter; they are running ~10s different between crown up and crown down.

When you send them in for service, how do you ensure that original parts are not swapped out for new ones?

The minute hand is still "on the minute" after 7 days. I haven't checked it to the second.

100% accurate twice every 24hrs (when movement has not been wound for a day)
