I have a 2017 SMPc with the 2500d and I am continually amazed by its accuracy which averages about 5 seconds fast PER MONTH. It smokes the METAS certified 8900 in my Globemaster which runs about +4.7 spd. Doesn’t seem to matter what position I leave the SMPc in overnight. The 2500d just quietly goes about its business with astonishingly good accuracy. Love this watch! Anybody else getting this kind of accuracy with their 2500d?

 

You got lucky. The 2500D in my SMPc has performed within specs, but averages something like +3 spd. The 8400 in my Seamaster 300 MC, on the other hand, has performed similarly to yours — less than 5 seconds a month on average.

Any of the co-axial movements can probably be adjusted to come close to accuracy we have experienced. We just got lucky with ours and they were that accurate out of the box!

 

When I had my Planet Ocean it had the 2500D movement 2011 timeframe and it was about anywhere between 1-2 sec a day. No clue for the month as the power reserve would run out as I would go a couple days rotating other watches.

 

I'm not entirely sure which iteration of the 2500 I've got in my 2006 Planet Ocean - any reference to a comprehensive thread on this would be welcome of course

As a long-term daily driver, I've always been very happy with the degree of accuracy from my PO though.

 

My experience is similar to that of the OP. After I set it, the 2500D in my SMPc runs about two seconds faster than the sync with the atomic clock, then stays there for days on end - no wavering. My 8400 in my 300, however, generally runs out of spec with close to +9 per day - I'm constantly having to reset it.

That can be adjusted.

Any movement is only as accurate as the watchmaker who adjusted it. These things are still adjusted by hand by people with various amounts of ability.

My LE Railmaster is seconds a week as well.

pretty sure the PO’s never had a 2500d in them. It would likely be 2500A to 2500C - probably the A or B judging by your date but I’m happy to be corrected.

My circa 2010/2011 PO has a 2500D movement, and I found it to be extremely accurate as well. I wear the watch in rotation with several others, so don’t have a month measurement, but I’ve on several occasions observed mine running between dead-on and +2 sec/day over 24 hour periods.

Machamp, the later first-gen POs did have the 2500D. I believe mine to be a D based on the font on the date wheel. Supposedly the C has an flat topped 4 whereas the D has a pointy topped 4. Supposedly the 1s are different as well with the C having 1s that look like a “1” and the D having 1s that look an “l”. Don’t take my word as gospel though. I’m sure others know better.

I recently got my PO 2500 back from servicing (granted it's a C). But it's within about 1-2 seconds a day. My 8500 POs are all around 1-2 seconds a day as well. Ironically my METAS Deep Black is the worst of the bunch at a +4-5 a day.

I must say I'm quite impressed with my Omega's to date.

 

SMPc from 2012, never been serviced. Runs better than all newly serviced buddies in the watch box...

I don't know whether the 2500 in this watch is a D or what... but it's one of my best timekeepers.

 

I like the exotic strap, have you ever tried with a leather strap?

 

I bought it used and came on an Omega black croc. I immediately bought the appropriate bracelet, one becase I prefer a bracelet, and two, how could you not?!

Though not why I bought the watch, Nathan Fillion had one and wore it during part of Castle. Of course Stana Katic wore a Speedmaster, her father's in the story.

If you look up 50s Constellation De Luxe, many of them came with a solid-gold brickwork bracelet exactly like this.
