Help to identify and value this Omega Triple Calendar

Hello-
I recently inherited a watch collection from my father and I am going through the due diligence on each piece. I'm very much a beginner, so any help is appreciated. I have been told this watch maybe an Omega Cosmic Triple Calendar Moonface from the mid 1940s to mid 1950s. A possible reference number is 2471. It has a steel case, bezel and back. The face numbering appears to be white gold, and it has a blue second's hand. I have not had the back opened yet. Given other examples I've seen online, it appears to be in very good condition. I was offered $1000 by a watch broken but it seems low?

Better pictures of the dial would be nice but at first sight looks all original.

@cristos71 is one of the experts here and will mist likely confirm.

I would not sell it for 1k USD but I would buy it for 1k USD... Even if it is not working.
If I were you, I would keep it.

Go over to C24 and Look at Ebay closed sales for an idea of value. That person who offered you a grand is an ass trying to scam you. If this is a good dial, it worth significantly more than that.

that dial looks very nice. I do not know much about these other than average examples seem to go between 5-10k. OmegaEnthusiast sells them for 10-15k but seems to command a higher price because of his reputation and social media presence.

What confuses me is the many variations of the dial. I've yet to find another exactly like mine, with the silver case, bezel and caseback, the white gold numerals and triangle markers and the "half-moon" calendar. I've also got conflicting answers on if it's a cosmic or not. Should I take it to a watchmaker who can remove the back for me?

Many dial variation exist.
It's a reference 2471 / cosmic.

Indice color I would call silver and not white gold.

Looks good to me with original dial and a case that looks to be in good shape too with nice well defined lugs. The $1K offer is a very poor offer, for this one more like $3.5K+ to $4.25K in a private sale...but as you are not an established seller be prepared to acept less. Omega Enthusiast has created his own market....and although he achieves those strataspheric prices it has taken him a long time to reach the level of credibility to do that. All power to him, but not realistic for the rest of us.

is there a decent resource out there that consolidates and explains the variants and helps to highlight what to look for in terms of originality? Like the Ploprof or Speedy Holy Grail websites or Ranchero thread here?

No, your best bet is here. It can be quite tricky for the inexperienced to rell a redial from an original. So always wise to check here first if you're not sure.
