I had plenty of Hot air from the Mother in law to keep me warm , She even said your not much of a heating engineer are you ,if you cant even fix your own boiler .....

You should have said to her "I know one 'old boiler' who's gonna get 'fixed' in a minute!"😡

...😁

You should have got her something way up in upstate New York. Yes she would freeze during the winter but you could have got her 109 acres for 50 bucks

Judging from the land I bought this week to build my family our new house on, you’re missing a few zeros, but not completely wrong about your point ha ha.

Doesn't hold a candle to this...my sister lived here, it was miserable.

High pressure in low pressure lines blew out the protective devices in all gas run appliances, causing leaks and fires.

Over 130 homes burned. 30,000 evacuated for as much as two months at the beginning of winter.

Gas company replaced 50 MILES of gas lines. Potentially $1 BILLION in damages.

Deal! In exchange you will get a 168.024!
You didn’t say there would be a Seamaster involved!!! You can stay at my house in Baltimore and use my shower. I have insane city water pressure (original 1938 non water restrictive head- your skin is red when you turn the pressure all the way up). The commute might suck though.

That is amazing. I hate to say the words only one person died but with over 100 structures taken out it is amazing only one person died (damn I said it again) I’m originally from MA and now one state over I remember reading about that one. Is that the actually picture of your sisters house while she still owned it? Imagine coming home to that, and here I am getting upset over cat throw up

Ouch. Indeed that hurts...

Well, after two days of cold showers I must say it's quite refreshing. The mobile showers could'nt deliver. The hotel around the corner was fully booked. But because of the fact we can not cook either we're going out for dinner. So all in all it's quite a pleasant experience. I can recommend it to everybody. A good gas leak brings people together.

Since yesterday the washing machine is back so we're back on track...

Actually I did run back in.

It was for a 1915 ex-Grand Trunk Railway station clock... your friggin right I was going in.

Actually is was during the time out of the house that I discovered vintage watches, easier to save in the event of a fire I guess.

"The financial losses do not include the cost of pipeline replacement, or the costs of settling lawsuits, or fines and penalties."

Man, and here I am whining about some duct work on our new house. Great, now you guys are making me paranoid . . .

I lived in a tent for a year and a half while I built a house on raw land. My shower was a camping solar-type bag hung from a Douglas fir tree and there was an outhouse in the woods behind the building site.

Since then I’ve moved back to civilization, but I really miss those days... when I finally had a toilet inside it was a strange thing to experience, I mean, deficating inside your home!

Needless to say you quickly take those creature comforts for granted but the hard times make for colorful memories and you’ll never turn on that hot hot water again without giving thanks.

Ah youth, I remember me and my wife being dead broke, sleeping on the floor in the living room because we have no furniture, and a mutt dog licking our faces in the morning...but it was the happiest time of my life. Nothing to worry about but love.

I REALLY miss those days.

Oh yes happy Days indeed . My 1st wife & I moved into our first home together when She was 7 months pregnant on our 1st Daughter (I was 21 & My wife was 19 ), & all we had as furniture was two deck chairs & a camp bed my wife slept on . But they were some of the happiest days of my life & we were so in Love nothing else seemed to Matter.

...we were so in Love...
I suspect there is more to this story that does not invoke such fond memories 😁
