This is showing up in a popular auction house........to be unnamed. Poor description. Poor pictures. Low price with a little bit of time left. I've already spent my weekly self-imposed $$$ on watches. I said out loud F*#% A DUCK. Wife in the other room says "what?". Nothing dear, go back to watching Bachelor in Paradise.
Mid-1970s? Do you know the reference number? I have a friend in Yorkshire who purchased one very similar to that watch while he was in the Royal Marines. I'd like to find one like his.
This is one of those like the vintage SM300. Fewer and fewer out there. I've owned a few and sold them all. Last one brought a bunch. I would like one back. If it goes over my limit, I'll post a link ...................if you haven't already found it.
Trying to talk me out of it? I don't know. Big dive watch. Well made. I don't have one right now. It was meant to be a dive watch, not wrist candy. Not many out there. Trying to get it on the cheap.
Not at all, just not sure why these seem to bring the money they do....I also see a lot of them with newer hands etc, which seems to be a selling point with some folks.
No late 60's early 70's pre turtle case. That's the original Seiko Diver. My 68 navigator timer is similar.
These are great watches and wear so darned well. That's what most people don't get. I could take another.
How very thoughtless of it to turn up when you've spent your weekly limit. You'll just have to buy it anyway and carry over the loss to as many succeeding weeks as it takes to absorb it, so start preparing that spreadsheet. And if Mrs. R. kicks up a fuss you can blame it on me.
I took it up to $350. 2 others wanted it more. Sold for $357 . Who knows how far it could have gone. I figure if the movement was rust, $350 is optimistic. There is evidence of moisture on the posts and it is an old dive watch. #1 cause of death of this type of watch is a numb-nuts owner who thinks that they can dive with a 45 year old watch just because it looks the part.
My mistake $352. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252518726870?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Wow....that is the kind of lot I would convince myself to buy so I could sell the parts I didn't need. Needless to say I would probably never sell them....
The problem is that there was nothing else of value in there. Nice looking "Rouan" dive watch (from 10 feet away, at least) but is a 1 jewel POS. Other dive watch is junkier. Nothing else other than the Seiko. So 100% of the gamble is on the Seiko. I still think there are more out there at flea markets from the sellers who think they only have a nice Seiko diver. When in fact they have a valuable watch.
