Fed ex lost my watch

Somewhat related over on Rolexforums. FedEx driver apparently delivered watch to the wrong house but claims it delivered to the correct one (even though signatures don’t match). Local police agree it’s “stolen”. ParcelPro won’t pay insurance and now seller is out big bucks on a 1675.

Parcelpro won’t pay because they need FedEx to affirm the claim and state it is lost/stolen, which they won’t. It’s not ParcePro’s failing- it’s FedEx. It would cost FedEx nothing on this as they aren’t the insurer- but they are being assholes.
I went through this with a lost Leica and the vendor (bought from a dealer) made me whole but UPS refused to to admit that it had been misdelivered and he couldn’t get paid out by his insurance. That one did show 2 months later (dumped in the doorway of another agency nearby) but only after I notified UPS that it was being considered lost government property and federal authorities were now involved. Amazing how they managed to find it then- yet never admitted to anything.

The only shipper I have dealt with that has admitted fault and paid on or found missing packages without question was USPS.

Absolutely no accountability or recourse with these businesses.

As I have said before….anything I’m selling for over $10k I am hand delivering.

(Even if it’s a cheap flight with 3 stopovers it’s a fun trip)

I normally ship insured via USPS and have had no issues other than a lengthy delay in shipping a watch to a buyer in Poland and the delay didn't start until the Polish postal service took custody of the package. For my money, the USPS does a pretty good job both for domestic and international shipments.

FBI, the three magic letters

The FBI would make this their top priority.

Was that in Western Mass or Eastern Mass?

We joke but this is exactly what the FBI is supposed to do- investigate fraud and white collar crime. My grandfather was FBI and was a CPA- it was one of the job requirements (or a law degree) at the time to be an agent.

You are speaking of the FBI of old, the FBI of today has decided they have other issues to concentrate on, many unrelated to crime. Who respects the FBI today?

Politics aside- it’s unfortunate that it takes threatening a federal investigation (since it was government property they “lost”) for UPS to actually give a shit about product they handled carelessly

Actually, I do. There is no such thing as a perfect organization, but there are many hard working, good people there and some of them put their lives on the line every day.

Well on a side note my first watch since hairy the cat died would have been delivered but both my wife and I were working. None of the major delivers have been following the signature request up until now since Covid. My plan is to pick it up at the post office Saturday unless I take a mental health day tomorrow. Watch is from a member here I recently purchased at least I know this isn’t lost, as of now. USPS not FedEx. Too bad these useless cats can’t do the minimum and give a paw print for a package after all the stuff I do for them. Useless pets. Edit: sorry I should have said that about my cats I think I hurt their feelings they being real nice now.

(Not so) funny story, I also had a watch lost by Fedex in Texas. This was during the December storm. Spoiler alert, the watch didn't show and I'm just finishing up getting my funds back.

A little strange with mine is it made it out of Texas to PA then just stopped updating. I can still check the tracking even though FedEx refunded the seller. I’m pretty sure there was still something funky going on with the weather around 1/29 or whatever but I drive out to PA on occasion to see Gettysburg I would have driven to avoid this fiasco.

Well the whole “fed ex lost my package” is now moot. Bought a nice world timer off a nice gentleman here. Actually arrived early via USPS. So we went from tragedy pending to tragedy narrowly averted. I will be wearing this if not this weekend to work all next week as for a few reasons, although this is not a very special expensive watch, it had some meaning to me. So alas, a world timer has landed at the Walrus residence
