OMEGA LOST MY WARRANTY CARD

Hello all & hope that you are well.

I sent my modern steel 321 to OMEGA Bienne for warranty repair (broken mainspring) and OMEGA lost my 5 year international service warranty card!

Naturally, I am very upset at this loss but I am wondering what sort of reasonable compensation (non-financial) that I can expect from OMEGA to make good on this loss.

My understanding is that OMEGA will not replace lost warranty cards under any circumstances.

Thanks & Regards, MELVILLE

That’s a bit of an odd one that I’ve not heard before. Very strange that they wouldn’t just replace it if they have a record of the purchase to go off.

Thanks for the response and in fact my local AD which managed the warranty return has requested a replacement card and has been told by OMEGA UK that one will be provided; however, when I search online all the online resources tell me that a five year international warranty card is never replaced under any circumstances. Does anyone here have experiences of replacement warranty ty cards being reissued?

You have your answer right there. I don't understand why you're making such a fuss.

Thanks for your response, but the fact is that while I have been told that a new card will be issued, I haven't yet received one and the fact that OMEGA has lost the original card makes me doubt anything that OMEGA UK might say now after the loss. The card shouldn't have been lost in the first place and until I actually get a replacement I'm not willing to trust anything that OMEGA might say in the interim.

So when did you receive the watch back from repair and when did they tell you they would provide a new card? You did at least get 2 year warranty card regarding the repair service, right?

Thanks. I got the watch back four weeks ago and I haven't been given a date for the replacement card, only some vague assurance that it is being printed. I didn't get a warranty card in relation to the warranty repair on the mainspring either, hence my unease. I suspect that I won't ever get a replacement card and then I will be forced to try and negotiate for compensation, hence my original message

There are cases depending on location the warranty repair card is being provided or not. Still would like to know how long it's been since they told you they would print a new card, if more than 3 weeks I would escalate with Omega CS directly.

Thanks. It is about three weeks since I was told that a replacement warranty card will be provided so I will wait another week and then contact OMEGA CS directly as you suggest. Do you actually think that a new OMEGA five year international warranty card would be reprinted?

PS Are there any forum members here who have personal knowledge of replacement international warranty cards being reissued to replace a card lost by OMEGA itself?

If they say a new card will be provided I would relax and wait an appropriate amount of time for them to provide it. Just because your internet searches say Omega will not replace warranty cards does not make it so.

They absolutely have the ability to print a new card and they are the ones responsible for the original's loss. Just be persistent in asking that they make good on their promise to replace it. Given the watch's uniqueness and value, there's really not another way for them to reasonably compensate you.

Omega's policy is not to replace lost or missing cards. However, since they are the one's that lost it it should not be an issue for them to just print a new one since the loss was their error. Let Omega UK work the issue.

I've never had to use Omega warranty service, do they absolutely need the original card to perform a warranty service? They keep saying everything is digital now, so why do they need the original piece of plastic? I would have thought a photocopy of the card would be sufficient, or none at all if the digital system is functioning.

I think it's really the AD/OB requiring that to be included even if you originally purchased it from them (sent in watches twice with the card).

Rest easy we are going to have a talk with Bienne and sort this kerfuffle out for you.

Seriously, I think the opposite "finders keepers" rule apply to this situation. Omega should do everything to satisfy you in this one in a million situation.

Anyways who would ever sell a 321 Speedy? So you dont need that card?

Omega gave you an answer. They are printing a new card. Provide them with adequate time and check. If nothing ask to speak with the service manager and sort it out. It’s not a great thing to have happen but I don’t understand what you are after.

Thank you all for your useful responses. I will keep the forum updated on the provision by OMEGA of a replacement warranty card.
