I've been wanting to pick up an older model Ex2 with a white dial. Somehow, it always ends up number 2 on my next to get watch list. I'd hate to wait and then they jump up to 6-7k on the used market. That would be unamazing.
Get in now, they are going up in price on the second hand market.

No I ended up with the black dial, the floating hands are mesmerizing.

It's a fabulous looking watch: I love the long pointy look and punch of the orange GMT hand and text, plus the extra beefy hour & minute hands. Frankly its styling details are what the GMT Master should have had!

I have the polar 42mm because I already have a speedy pro for a black dial watch. I love the polar dial, especially for summer wear, but your pictures always make me second guess my decision.

As a pair, I love my watches. For only one, I may have to go with the black dial exp2.

I’m on the lookout for a Exp 2 Black with orange GMT hand. I agree the floating phantom hour and minute hands are indeed mesmerizing!

I have never understood why the Exp II isn’t more popular. I’ve never regretted getting it and I wear it often.

I went into the AD thinking the same thing, I would have a blue dial, a black dial, and a white dial...

Just to scare the crap out of everyone out there, Explorer IIs came up in conversation this morning. A chap listening in said he bought one yesterday. A year old, black face, from a well known UK AD ... and he paid £9000.

Take a moment to wipe the coffee you've just spilled everywhere

That’s crazy. Personally I find the 42mm case is off putting - it’s too dammed big. The old 40mm version is lovely.

My AD had a Polar version in the window last week.

Kitchen table looks good with tea sprayed all over it btw!

https://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Rolex/Explorer II/216570/22115/item/121321

And we all know Watchfinder ain’t economically priced
I told the guy he was nuts and showed four on offer at Chrono24 between £5600-6000. He said, his was unworn, with all stickers and tags, full warranty ... and that he's paid £3000 down with the rest on HP (at 29.9%!!!!). He thinks that he can sell it in a couple of years, still unworn and at profit.

I think he's crazy and will be £2k to the bad plus the interest. The four examples on Chrono24 are also NIB.

FWIW, I've been told by a big second hand seller that the 216570 does not sell that well, and there is demand for the older 40mm 16570, prices are slowly rising. At least in watchrecon/europe, an Explorer II in good shape of either reference is not seen often.

So maybe Rolex's strategy is paying off : it finally created demand for the 216570.

I wonder what will happen to the 16570 on the used market...maybe it will turn into a hot watch? Amusing to see how the watches stay the same, and the market around them change so rapidly.
