Depends on your definition of "fake", as among other things, the seller clearly states that the dial is a "repaint", and that the case is not original.
Exactly. Some of the sellers peddling these are now saying they aren't original, which is nice.

It's nice to be informed, and certainly better than a complete faux-router. Still, highly undesirable. 馃憥

By Ebay standards, that's complete transparency

Absolutely, LouS! Darlinboy, the watch in question is a standard Faux-router - a real UG microtor movement with everything else fake. It comes from the eBay user 3duacon, who has been selling fake recessed pocket watches and fake Polerouters along with other fake things for years.

Hi all,

A first time poster on here, and somewhat alarmed by what I've read!

I have a UG Sub that I bought well over 10 years ago, probably around 2004. Now I'm wondering if it's the real deal or not. I certainly matches the visual description you guys have given (although, to the untrained eye...it's hard to be exact).

Can anyone tell me when these suspected fakes from Australia are supposed to have been made?

Thanks very much,

davis

Question on 2nd generation Polerouter Subs (asymmetric case/orange hands): would these ever NOT have a "SWISS T" signed dial? Or could it simply be a case of a new and incorrect crystal/rehaut covering? (seller has confirmed it does not have any (visible) SWISS text)

I do not have the answer to Swiss T or not - but that dial looks "kosher" to me.

Old lume ?

Yes and no... More looking at text/fonts/hairline/minute track and indexes in detail and as a whole. Deteriorating lume can be faked but to get all the other stuff right is difficult.

My father just gave me what appears to be a first execution version of the polerouter. He bought it in the early seventies and has had it in a drawer for a few decades. I have just read this thread and now have questions about authenticity.

Also, do others on here have advice about getting the watc serviced? It seems to be keeping time since I put it on, but the lume looks rather fuzzy and the crystal has some noticeable scratches (my dad said it saw heavy use back in the day). Is the scratched crystal evidence that this isn't authentic? Lettering seems to match the authentic examples on here (e.g., no space in Geneve; serifs on the text).

Can the crystal be polished? Do seals need to be updated? I've never owned an automatic watch...advice very welcome, thanks.

Here we go: that watch is authentic. Mess with it as little as possible. If you want to keep it, polish the crystal, service the movement, DONT TOUCH THE LUME. Make sure whatever watchmaker works on it understands this. If you want to sell it, don't do anything at all. What you regard as improvements are likely to be regarded as heinous mutilations by the vintage watch crowd,
