Hello There

With me slowly creeping into this horological hobby and knowledge gathering.
Iam keen to get a Diver, if I had the money would go straight for the Seamaster or the Rolex Hulk but let’s take baby steps and earn the right to get something that special.

What Iam looking for in this diver is a design similar to either the seamaster or the Rolex Hulk , automatic movement, Sapphire Glass both front and at least partial back and a Ceramic Bezel.

What brands or models should I be researching, Pricewise would like to search in the $1K range.

Thanks for all the help.

And I think the OP has made it pretty clear he wants this and only this for $1k.

Or maybe this

But if those aren’t available he would be happy with this

You don't need to do anything, but since you have offered, just a photo of the watch next to a note with your username will be fine, I look forward to the pics.

This thread along with the white faced diver threads made me scratch my itch before the new white dialed Seamaster Diver 300M hits stores in the fall. I really like the looks of the white 300M and I am excited to see one in person. Till then, I just paid $200 for this on eBay and I should have it by the end of the week:

If a budget diver is what you're looking for @Qwertyqaz, after looking into Marc & Sons myself when I saw this piece pop up on the bay, I would recommend you give them some research time as well. You might be surprised what you see and read.

After scrolling through 9 pages of solid divers in the price range - I appreciate the OP’s honesty with his first post... This was a very slow creep to gathering any knowledge.

+1 to all the Seiko suggestions. I wear my SKX all the time.
+1 to @JwRosenthal who finally found out on page 9 that the only thing that will satisfy him is a $1k Hulk.
+1 to the dibs list for a $1k Hulk. Actually +2 I wouldn’t mind selling one for some watch money.

What time should he set on the watch?

GMT 2535.80 no ceramic bezel but sapphire front/rear $1500-$2000.... Saw one for sale the other day.. I think Seiko is hard to beat at under $1000. I went for a Sumo $350-$450 and can't believe the quality and performance of a watch at this price point.

What would be the best Seiko Diver from a quality perspective, do note I like the summariser styling so Turtle, Tuna Can and Marine Masters are not the designs I would want.

I was once a Swiss snob, but have been enlightened to what the Japanese can do when they want to make a point. @Qwertyqaz - do a little reading in the Grand Seiko’s, they pretty much knocked them out of the park and left the Swiss sweating- they can run head-to-head with anything Rolex or Omega can do on their best days.
