The search continues, was keen on getting a Ball Hydrocarbon but the seller pulled out at the last minute.

Maybe you could look for a used or new old stock Victorinox Dive Master 500M (discontinued 2 yr ago and replaced by the Inox, which comes with and without a rotating bezel), which should be in your price range?

They are beefy and tough, look good on strap or bracelet, and are pretty accurate. My DM500 has an ETA 2892A and has been running for over a year on the winder and has lost an average of -0.5 sec/day (about 3 minutes a year off). My quartz version gains less than 0.3 sec/day, or less than 2 minutes a year off of atomic time.

I finally got a watch.
We can now put this thread to sleep, thanks to all that chimed in.

New with Tags, haven’t even removed the plastic covers yet.

Yeah, it's just not the same. I traded my SMPc and Explorer II to get this one last summer.

I think that was a wise trade- you will get far more enjoyment out of that pup than those watches- oh, nice green thing in the foreground too 😎

Did you buy a new one?

Also looks a tad small on your hand.

Nima007 sourced it from me at his local Ben Bridge Jewelers new last June, and it was a week old when I received it. Yeah, he profited a bit, but he had to sell two of my watches that I traded to make the dough. He did all the work so I was happy.

I’m still waiting for my own local Ben Bridge jewelers to source me my Rolex James Cameron Deep Blue. I think I might be able to have it by the end of the year.

I read that exactly the same, and chose to ignore it and see what came back at me 😜

+1 on the Certina ph200m reissue - it’s got great presence and can be had for £450 - wear it in the sea / pool almost every day and it’s never let me down.

I wish they kept the 40mm case size of the original rather than upping it to 42mm for modern tastes.

Agreed. It has been on my wish list and if it were 40mm it would have been a no-brainer, it would be mine. I still go back and forth and asked @ConElPueblo his thoughts as he has an original-he thought they missed the mark- too big.
Still, it’s so damn perfect visually and I do have a few at 41 that although big, wear smaller due to their large bezel and smaller dial proportions (Helson Skindiver, Marathon GSAR). Hell, it’s the same size as the SMP we all know and love...but I guess it’s all about proportions.

Anyone here with one that has a counterpoint argument to convince us the size is spot on? (I’m begging for a reason to buy one).

Got another one yesterday, something I can wear around the house. In mint condition and came with both bracelet and rubber strap.
Leaving the rubber strap on as it seems more at home with it especially if it’s going to be a beater watch.

Ticks all boxes: Ceramic Bezel, See through back.

Good for you man!! Now you’re branching out and discovering other brands that make great watches. Oris makes some spectacular watches with a great company lineage and history in making divers. The 40mm 65 (the real Re-issue, not the Honindkee abonomination) is on my list for sure!
