Constellation Pie Pan UNDER CONSIDERATION (as first ever Omega) - expires this evening

Good morning,

Considering this watch as my first ever Omega. Listed on ebay and currently bids circa £750. Apparently recently serviced and keeps daily time within 20 secs.

Would really appreciate any views on quality, originality, value etc.

It's shipping from Venezuela so if people have experience with import duties and their cost that would also be great.

Many thanks!

It looks tired, especially the movement. If you're importing to UK (as the price you said is in GBP), you will pay a further 20-25% import duty so this will be far too expensive in my opinion.

Good luck, Chris

Hi newbie123, welcome to the forum.

This is a very common reference, so you will find plenty of information in previous threads on the forum. Make sure you search in previous sales post to check value. This way you can form a better opinion by yourself, comparing with other watches that have sold. You have the reference in the case back.

The watch shows a fair bit of wear. The dial isn’t particularly attractive, and is not something you will be able to correct later on. Gold cap cases aren’t particularly sought after, because they tend to age worse than stainless steel.

To understand import taxes… we need to know where you are. It’s unlikely to be a good deal if you add another 20% and assuming the auction goes up more before it finishes.

But anyway, what would worry me more is the condition. You can overpay for a watch and forget about it. You cannot undo/change the condition. So for me it would be a clear pass!

Thanks all, yes I am in the UK, so I assume I then have to add a quarter onto the price in duties.

I am looking to pay around or below £1000 if anyone has seen good examples recently?

Thanks, a couple of real beauties. I think I prefer the look of the gold watches, but this private sales forum looks like a much better spot to keep an eye on than ebay!

Finding a nice vintage watch at a fair price takes one thing more than anything else: patience.

eBay is good too, but you need to do your own research to know what you buy.

Gold cap is a mix of gold and steel. Solid gold would be entirely gold, but would fetch higher.
