Good luck.

BTW if you are on tamsulosin/silodosin or other medications for an enlarged prostate make sure you tell your ophthalmic surgeon. Helps to avoid something called Floppy Iris Syndrome.

I'm not taking those meds but I DO spend a LOT of time at Lake Flaccid.

I made it. Four hours passed since operation. Eye feels a tad scratchy and is blurry so I can't asses quality of distance vision yet. I thought the eye would hurt a lot but it does not. Looking forward to a great result. Thanks for all the well wishes.

I was given only Versed and was totally aware during the whole process. I could feel some pressure and pushing but no pain. Very efficient assembly line they had going at the clinic!

You probably know this, but do not rub your eye.

You'll probably also notice that red and blue colors are more vibrant.
This is especially true during the first 24 hours.
But it stays a little brighter than before forever after that.
Not sure why. Maybe the man-made lens is more clear than the natural one they replaced.

Did you get Lasik laser correction also or only cataract lens replacement?

No laser in this operation. Hoping tomorrow the halos will decrease and acuity will improve. I know it will take some time though...already scratchiness is almost gone. Have appt with OD for checkup tomorrow!

I was nearly blind as a child. My eyes could not focus clearly on news print more than 8 inches beyond my nose.
My eyesight improved slowly but steadily over the next sixty plus years. These days I don't bother wearing glasses at all.
My eyesight is not perfect by any means but is adequate. I still have occasional eye strain but I figure that is normal enough and possibly beneficial in forcing the eyes to work at improving.

Woke up today with the scratchiness gone! There is still a filminess as though there is milk in my eye! But my assessment of acuity is good. I don't see much color enhancement, if any, but it surely looks like my distance vision is great and I am sure will improve. I go to the OD later this AM and we'll see how I do on his chart. There is still some halo effect around pinpoint lights such as pilot lights on my audio equipment, and I wouldn't want to drive at night yet.

The halo effect went away after my cataract surgery.
I can't remember how long it took but it was mostly gone in 3 or 4 days time, I think.

The first night I was seeing some spectacular halos.
A small green light in a dark room would appear as a 4-foot-wide neon green halo.
It was almost science-fiction looking.
That "special effect" went away the next day.

Was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes which caused my vision to go blurry. I didn't know that until later, but went to the OD who said I had cataracts. Then after taking 1.5g Metformin for a couple of months my glucose went down to 108 from 258 and my good vision returned.

Still going forward with the surgery. Left eye tomorrow and right one 10-20. I am hopeful. We'll see...

Was advised to not bring valuables. So I guess I'll wear my $40 wood watch.

One of the things that can sometimes occur later is fluid buildup around the new lens. This can cause your vision to get very bad overnight. This happened to me a few months after surgery. The quick and easy fix was a few laser punched holes that let the fluid drain. The process took about 15 minutes to perform. Totally painless with no meds. It鈥檚 been great ever since now years later.

Glad all has gone well -always a lot to take on things like this - especially eyes for a watch lover.
