Started on 9/24 with a visit to the ER. Never thought that I would be looking forward to having surgery, but kidney stones are misery! Hope it’s a one time event. I’m 62 and never had one before. Have to choose an appropriate watch for the occasion!

Yep better to get the surgery and get it over with before infection sets in.

Ugh ... had a bad attack in my late 30s that landed me in hospital. Hydration.

Do not envy you.
I've had three episodes in the last six years. Worst pain I have ever had.
Last time, I was on an ibuprofen drip, with 10mg of intravenous morphine and a penthrox inhaler.
I was still in agony.

Mine resolve "naturally" without surgery. I think i would have preferred surgery 😀

Good luck, I wish you an uneventful procedure and a speedy recover.

Best wishes on your surgery. I had two. One 3mm passed ok. The other was 8x5. They had to go up and get it, if you catch my drift. General anesthesia and total relief from the pain immediately. They inserted a stent which needed to come out a week later but that sounds worse than it was. Be sure to listen to a lot of Urethra Franklin music.

Have passed a couple...the first one I only felt just as it was passing, and it a "WTF!" moment. Second one lasted all night, but passed the next day, and that was little tougher.

Make sure to find out what type it is, as some can be prevented through diet changes.

But yes, drinking more water through the day can make a huge difference, and I start every day with a small glass of cranberry juice...haven't had any for the last 4 years.

Same thing with me. 5mm and it got stuck and they had to retrieve it. Will have stent for about a week. Happy to be relieved of the pain.

Make sure they give you the stone and you can have it glued at the 12 market on your new watch 😉
Buying the JLC as a post procedure gift to myself.

Glad it is over and all went well.
13/14 years ago I had to drive my partner to the emergency because of that, and we didn't know what it was... Crazy drive!
The week after, we both stopped smoking... Non related cause to effect but it seemed like the appropriate moment to do it 😀

I had an ultrasound for something else recently that identified a lower-pole kidney stone, subsequently confirmed and measured at 5mm by CT scan. It's assymptomatic, so I don't think I'm going to do anything for it, but I did consult a urologist at the closest hosptial (NY Presbyterian) to establish a relationship in case it suddenly becomes a problem. I figure that's not a good time to start finding a urologist.

I start every day with a small glass of cranberry juice
I think the literature about that is mixed, depending on what type of stone you're most likely to get, based on your previous history:
