Beware: Problem Longines watches

it looks fine to me. Yes the dial is from 1942 or later as that’s when this logo was registered. And indeed you’re going to have to wait for Longines’ reply to confirm the watch was sold at a date consistent with the use of the dial. If the sale of the watch is prior to 1942 then the dial is not original to the watch and is a later transplant.

Please note this is not the right section of the forum for queries, this is the place to warn people when you see a Longines that is problematic.

ok, thank You and sorry.
one more thing: I noticed that the caseback has also hourglass with wings... Is this common before 1942?

Slow learner...

A further example of these "FAB SUISSE / LXW*" 13ZNs. 1

eBay item number: 202334591088

* "FAB SUISSE" = Swiss watch for export to France
"LXW" = Export to the US

Unbelievable. And that is someone who collects all sorts of French dive watches and French military dive watches....

Respectfully, I would like to state that I have never represented the black dial as being original to the watch. To be clear, I do not believe this black dial is original to this watch. Indeed all other MN Longines examples have white dials.

I purchased this watch with its black dial already in place, I still own this piece and it is not for sale. I have since sent the piece to Longines asking specifically for comment on the dial, and obtained a certificate of authenticity that was inconclusive on the dial (it only mentioned the dial as being brass, though I've seen other certificates confirming a white dial). Accordingly I do not have any information confirming the black dial as original, and therefore I would not represent it as original.

You did put it for sale for 3000 USD without disclosing the black dial was incorrect. Something you must know considering you’re promoting on Instagram a book on Marine Nationale Watches- and considering Marine Nationale watches are a core focus of your collection and Instagram postings.

I absolutely disclosed the uncertainty around the dial to anyone who dm'd me for more details, as indicated in the post.

Hello,
I am the seller.
Apologies for the misinformation since I believed the dial is original. I have no intention to falsely describe the watch. I will take your expert opinion and correct right away! I have learned so much from this community and I truly respect most everyone in this subforum.

What do you think of this dial for $25 on Ebay. I got it to replace my hideous vintage redial. Do you think this is also a redial?

Hello, welcome to the forum. This is not a thread for questions- this a thread to warn people about bad watches. Are you saying this watch is a bad watch? I don’t think so. So I would suggest you create a separate discussion for this watch. Looks good to me, by the way, even though I don’t know anything about 1950s Longines.
