    Starting a thread of Longines watches that are for sale, advertised as original, and clearly (or not so clearly) refinished.

    First off is this one that sold at Auctionata for a whopping 2125 Euros on Dec. 16, 2015: https://auctionata.com/en/o/180863/...e-wristwatch-um-1945?cat=shop&search=longines Notice the white dial foot (a clear giveaway) in the photo of the movement. Now it is on the 'Bay.

    Next is this one, which seems to be missing a marker on the subdial.

    Should this one be in this thread as well?

    It appears to be a modern interpretation of a 1920s Cartier. Can't comment on originality without some context (i.e. movement and caseback photos) as these are not my cup of tea.

    Hi @DirtyDozen12 , could you elaborate more on the issues you see (newb here)? Particularly, would be appreciative if you could elaborate on the "white dial feet" part (e.g. where the dial feet are on the dial, what's wrong with white etc.)

    Thank you so much!

    Below are different images of the same watch/movement, with the visible dial foot highlighted. Dial feet are prongs, which are on the back of the dial, that insert into holes in the movement for purposes of situation. Since most Longines of this era had dials that were primarily composed of brass, the dial feet should appear brass-toned. A white dial foot is usually the sign of a redial. However, not all redials present white dial feet.

    Very interesting about the dial feet, would never have thought to look for that. Noted and thanks!

    Was ready to let this thread die as there are far too many awful redials to shed light on but this one is too appalling to ignore. Certainly not worth the shipping fee, which is an astronomical $80 by the way. At least the dial is aptly described as "unusual" and "unbelievable". ::facepalm2::

    The dial of the flagships looks legit to me. What makes you think it is redialed?
    For the second one::facepalm1::

    I'd say that the horribly redone "tritium" plots kill it but I might have missed something else...

    IMO, you can't judge perspective from an internet photograph. The camera might be at a slight angle that can cause distortion in the picture. There may be differences in the crystals or scratches that can cause optical illusions in a two dimensional format.

    You must see the dial in person and look with a loupe to be sure.

    The SWISS MADE is too high and the two words are spaced way too far apart. Nice fonts on the rest though. If they had gotten the SWISS MADE correct, it would have fooled a lot of people. One other thing - the date window surround and winged hourglass logo are showing their age. It would be extremely strange for that amount of tarnish on an otherwise clean dial with untarnished hands and indices.
