    Hi All,
I have been reading posts in this forum for quite long and always be amazed by Longines vintage watches. I want someday to have one. Unfortunately, here in Vietnam there are many fake and not original watches. I don't have experience in vintage watches and it is hard for me to know if one is good and its price is sensible.

Anyways, I'm interested in this piece called Longines conquer calendar. The seller states that everything is original and the case is not even polished ...
From my research, I found some issues
    - The crown is not original
    - The dial looks beautify, but I think it may be redialed? I have not seen circle dot like that. I saw square ones. The longines and others look fade. The number in the date looks bad
    - The movement looks not good. The yellow gold color is fade away ...

Very grateful if you can provide some feedback... The seller asked for $580 USD
Thanks for reading my first post!

Redial. Case back completely missing green enamel. It’s a pass from me at just about any price.

These are stock photos of the new and currently available Longines Heritage Conquest. You can buy a brand new one from a reputable dealer for £920. It will come with box, papers and a two year guarantee. You might even negotiate a small discount.

Unless you are collecting as a collector, this is probably a safer and better bet for you.

I know which option I’d choose, and I did and bought a silver dial model.

Redial in my opinion. Giveaway is lume dots; they don’t look anything like the correct rectangular lume plots of the original. I would pass.

Thank you very much for all your comments. They helped me to confirm my doubts for this watch. I passed it already.
However, I am looking on at this one. Please let me know if you have any concerns. It is about $400 USD

Gentlemen, very grateful if you can help me with the Ultra Chron. The seller told me that the wrist is not original but everything else is.

To my eye, the dial looks original. I'm not too familiar with this type of Ultra Chron, but nothing jumps out at me as being incorrect. It's an unusual cushion-shaped case with a gold fluted bezel. I would not be surprised if the bezel was solid 14k. The high-beat movement seems to be in good condition as well. I would say $400 seems like a reasonable price. I'm not sure about the crown though.

I found a listing for that same model Ultra-Chron online. It seems to be totally legit to me, and the crown appears to be original too. As I suspected, the bezel is solid gold, but 10k rather than 14k. I would try to see if the bracelet is Longines or an aftermarket replacement as that would affect the value of the watch.

Thank you very much SportChief for your great help and the excellent link. I have learnt a lot from that link. However, I don't agree with your observations. I believe the ultra-chron that I posted was redialed. Please take a look at the last C character of the word automatic. The Ultra-chron word is also not correct. The Swiss has issue as well.
    The glass was not correct.
The crown is not original either. The seller told me that he bought from a guy who bought it from eBay. the bracelet is fake. 1c57fbeb2dc5b3537aeeb2ef0c7027e4-2664814506874713235.jpg 22fa53374893d08585038407043311eb-2664814506982897337.jpg ac04f3eda7ae621635a009148b78a25c-2664814504862071851.jpg df5a82cc95f1f7acd245ecb4f8f48a5d-2664814507311610923.jpg

I tried to find my first vintage watch and I have learnt quite a lot.
I just saw another one. I look much better with the original bracelet, but it cost $580 USD. It seems a bit high? They watch was polished to much in the back as well.

I'm glad that link that I posted helped out! Although, I'm not sure what you are seeing in the dial of the first one. It looks to be original to my eye. I do agree the crown is not Longines after comparing it again with the pictures from the link.

The example you just posted looks quite good to me: original bracelet, dial looks original and clean, bezel is sharper than the other. I do agree that the caseback has been over polished. $580 does seem on the higher end, but perhaps you can get him closer to $500. The original bracelet certainly adds value to it.

The dial looks quite sharp, but the "automatic" font looks off to me. The cursive "automatic" should have larger "A" and "C" imo.

I do see what you mean about the differences in the first A and the C in "Automatic." However, the dial looks too good to be a redial in my opinion. Perhaps Longines changed the Automatic font at some point or there were different versions.

That's plausible as well. I tend to tread carefully these days because re-dialing techniques seem to have improved significantly.
