Happy to hear that, I like them from the way they are build. But I lack any background on how their quality is.👍
As others have said they are robust if you look after them and you can still get parts for 50’s models

Bulova SkyMaster 1943 Cal.10AK
Smallish watch but has a lovely rose gold case and a bronze colored dial. I just serviced it and keeps time very well in all positions (+/- 5 s/day) and also has excellent isochronicity (+/- 2 s/day over the range of 200 - 300 degrees amplitude).

Nice watch; get it serviced, you'll be fine. These '50s models are robust. I have a few 😀
What a great collection of lovely Tissot

A Circa 1920s Hebdomas “8 Jours” pocket watch. From 1888, Hebdomas hand made, piece by piece each of these watches. In 1918 they had 1,000 workers putting out 1,000 watches a day in La Chaux-de-Fonds. So far after a full day - it’s spot on. I’m curious if off a full wind it actually goes the week. $167 off the Bay. It’ll sit in my office as a conversation starter.

Look at the motion of the balance wheel; it should spin almost two turns for every cycle on a fully wound watch in good condition. It the amplitude is weak then it indicates service should be done. Typically in old watches the mainspring loses its elasticity and doesn’t store enough power. Nice watch!

I picked up 3 watches today at an estate sale, these are the two that interested me the most.
One is a Hamilton Railway Special 992B pocket watch and the other is a small (travel?) clock from the 1939 Worlds Fair in NY.
Both are running and seem to be in very very good condition, not bad for $40!
I've been looking for a railway watch for a little while now and plan on bringing it to my watchmaker to have it serviced next week.

How big is the clock? Cool piece.

How big is the clock? Cool piece.
It's small, 1 5/8" X 1 1/2". Once you slide it most of the way of its case the case then acts as a stand so I'm thinking it's an early travel clock (?)
So far it's kept ticking since giving it a few winds. I'm not sure how to set the time, though. The crystal can be taken off and that may be how the hands are set.
Hard to believe it's 80 years old, it looks great!

That travel clock should be in the Art Deco thread!

Thanks! It's about 7.5 mm including the glass.
Came with the tag and the plastic box.
