1965 Grand Seiko. I was looking for a 65, just to match my 65 GTO. It’s how much I love watches and automobiles. Will be worn to every cruise this summer.

That GTO looks so great with the glossy black and the Chrome. Maybe the watch should have a glossy black daily too?

This arrived yesterday, a Roamer manual wind Ref 136-414, never seen one before and the seller didn't state the watch diameter, looking at similar looking watches in my collection I was expecting a 33 mm watch to appear as I had no info other than a photo of dial and caseback so was very pleased to receive a 35 mm watch in close to perfect original condition including strap and buckle though the lens is not very good and I will replace it.

Just bought a very classic 168.005 crosshair onyx and cal. 564. Pretty good condition overall (beyond the crown which is not original to the ref.)

These were the thing to have when I was a kid if you could afford them. I could not then, but can now. I like that it allows me to show off all of my arm hair 🦍. That and I will be giving a talk on the history and mathematics of timekeeping later this month. It is nice to be able to show the parts of the watch.

Got this bad boy to clean up and restore.
I'll be glad to see it restored. It looks to have real potential. Will the pushers be hard to find?

Thankfully I’ve already got the pushers and my watchmaker has confirmed they’re correct. Getting the existing pusher bodies out of the case sounds like it’s been interesting though!

Something to keep your watchmaker busy.

More fun when you do it yourself 😉

Even then this is something to keep your bank account low.

Nice catch David!
We know about your love for the Camaro, and this one looks very promising!
Nice dial and case, and nice dirt!
😁

Is it a 73343 NT?
I wonder if it has been opened before?
Keep us posted!

I’m sure I pay more for the dirt than the dial half the time!

Good eye Hans, it is indeed a 73343 NT. I’d say it likely has been opened before, but the screws etc are all good so it certainly hasn’t been butchered. It’s simply been worn to death then thrown in a drawer. My watchmaker thinks the pushers fell off at some point and the owner continued to wear it for a considerable amount of time/years, so it’s certainly due some TLC

I have started to read up on the Camaro!
Very nice, and a bit unique!

And dirty watches makes them more fun, you never know what you get!

Good luck with your project, it should become a lovely piece!

Depends how much the service/restoration costs!

These sometimes have a habit of costing more than buying a decent one to start with but I place a lot of value on knowing exactly what was done to a watch in bringing it back to life. I should be ok with this one though as apart from the obvious there doesn’t appear to be any hidden demons.
