Air ministry Omega 6B/159 1943, UK2292.
.
That Omega looks to be in quite good nick for its age. Which turret were you sitting in on the Lanc?

I used to build model kits a lot when I was a kid. Mostly WW2 aircraft and tanks. My skills were never as good as yours though. Love your military watches as well, especially the Omega. I'm guessing it's UK military issue?

Yes, it is. One of the 'fat arrows'. The originals came with thin arrows and radium lume, but the dials were swapped for tritium and the fat arrow.

Here is some stuff from when I was in Special Boat Unit XI
Sgv1vx4.jpg
We wore a black beret something that came from the Vietnam era, and it was continued into the 1990's. You got the flash on the beret when you qualify for NEC 9533 SWCC combat craft crewman. Took me a year to qualify.

We used the PBR and MATC and PBL's small boats. The PBR could turn on a dime. It had two V-6 92's Detroit diesels with jacuzzi water jets used an impeller to suck up water and shoot it out a gate like a water jet. With a twin 50 gun tub up front a single mount in the back for a 50 Cal or MK-19 grenade launcher and the splinter shield between the engines a M-60 could be mounted.
Went to a reunion some years back and someone got a PBR haul and scrunched up all the parts and rebuilt one.

A bunch of old river rats going crazy with memories from our time with SBU XI. The guy sold the boat to a Military vehicle museum in Wyoming some years later that's open to the public when weather gets better doing a road trip next state over. Got to hear the engines light off was like music to my ears.

Pictured below are military items that hold significant sentimental value to me…my original brass naval aviator wings and my original dog tags…

The naval aviator wings pictured above are the ones that Dad pounded on my chest on 03JUN88 at NAS Whiting Field…and he gave me “blood wings” which was pretty cool. Mom can be seen in the lower left of the pic…she was not too happy about the “blood wings” evolution…but she got over it…

In SBU XI whenever we qualified for something or got promoted, they would pick you up give you a pink belly and hope who's hitting you don't have a ring on his finger you would have welts and carry you then throw you off the pier into the bay uniform and all.

Here is a WW1 British Navy Ditty Box in the US Navy we had a cheap cloth ditty bag. Its where you keep personal things in your locker on ship. I turned it into a watch storage box had to put a new lock that was close to the era and put in something to hold the watches. I collect WW1 watches since this was a WW1 era box thought a good combo.

. But Here are a few things that were issued when I was in SBU 11.
gw6qKIH.jpg
Have two of these they kept you warm you would layer up when you were training in the winter on the river.
XNvPeZ7.jpg
Got two of these got one of the older green ones to. I was in a Cargo Handling Battalion and the unit had a Conex box had not opened in years and they opened it up and found all these Old NOS Green M-65 jackets with liners since we used Camo M-65 jackets the CO said everyone take two I kept one and gave one to my brother. The Green one still in NOS condition wore the hell out of the Camo one in three different units.

Thanks again for sharing. May I ask what is the significance of the number 468 on the blue jacket? Was that the number of your patrol boat?
Always liked the OD green M-65 field coat. Such an iconic and effective design. Make sure you take good care of yours. Good condition examples are getting hard to find. Mine says "Hi":

You got a nice clean example of an MA-1 there. It might be a bit hard to see in my original photos but the green shell of my jacket is covered in small stains. So I'm quite envious of you 😁

Not sure I got 435 on the other one I got since both have different numbers maybe a issue number from supply ? who issued it. We also got issued sweet pants with it was for PT gear, but we used the hoodie for other stuff out in the field. The sweet pants wore out long gone they also had unit and number on them. They were made by champion not cheap stuff well made. Also, long sleeve blue T-shirts with the unit logo and number on them on same spot as the hoodie made by champion. We use to have CO from the fleet when I first went to the unit we had crappy gear like the rubber rain gear from the fleet were use to sweat your ass off in winter when training think you got more wet with them in the rain, then seals took over as CO and XO and the gear improved like this gear and danner Gore-Tex boots and camo Gore-Tex jackets and pants nice being dry in the rain no place on a PBR to get out of the rain. Only dump thing they did they put in hydraulic gun tubs for the 50 Cal in the front on the PBR it added weight and slowed down the boat speed your friend in combat. They were decommissioning Mare Island the base we were at so had to transfer to another unit had to give back those danner boots wished I could have kept those.

Here is the M-65 Jacket that I got two for free when a Unit I was with found them in a Conex box it was full of them and since they were outdated since we were using woodland camo instead of green the CO gave two free to anyone who wanted them.

To date them look at the two tags on one there 69 and another 00 one for 1969 jacket issue date the other 2000 liner issue date is how you date them. 1969 they were in that Conex box a very long time and it still looks new. When I was growing up in the 1960's in Calif. you would go into military surplus stores, and they had WW1 and WW2 surplus stuff it was plentiful now tough to find and not cheap anymore. And the m-65 jackets were very cheap. Interesting who made the liner.

Here is the last military thing I bought saw it on eBay the other day. I been looking for a birth year military issued watch do got a birth year civilian Omega just because I could not find a military issued birth year watch. saw this Boluva A-17A navigators watch with a L-8 date code on movement my birth year hoping the dial just a bad photo. But had make offer and got it cheaper than what I saw in past eBay sales for this watch. If I have to have the watchmaker relume it that's OK but won't know until I get it.

1958 a very hard year to find a issued birth year watch. Saw a member here that has one on a vintage aged leather bund strap one thing about a bund strap makes these smaller watches look bigger might have to get one to make this a wearable watch.

Here is a small sample of my pieces from when I was on active duty.

The compas, Master EOD badge and JCRC knife award were from my last tour in Thailand, Viet Nam and Laos.
The watch is a Hamilton like the one I was issued but, I foolishly turned in mine when I mustered out.
A fellow OF member kindly helped my find this replacement a short time ago.

Some souvenirs from my job.

Some of the knives I carried and patches from the units I was associated with.
