Any surprises coming up?

So far so boring. This doesn't fit with the Speedy Tuesday or Red Snoopy advert though does it? I wonder if there is a second more interesting release coming too...

Everyone complained about all the special LEs Omega churned out, and Omega stopped doing that, and people are now bummed out when every couple of years Omega flicks a new dial out there. To me it looks good, something different. Not as good as the Mitsukoshi/Apollo 11 35th/Tokyo 2020 silverish panda dials, but it'll sell well for those that like Panda style dials. Omega's choices are narrowed now with what they can issue as standard dials for the long term, it has to be fairly bland to stand the test of time. Personally I think this is a sharper looking dial than the white one, it has a bit of vintage vibe to it.

I believe it’s this one. Saw it from Reddit but post already deleted (was a zoom call with names on it lol) could still see it on google tho. Looks like “maybe lacquered black dial”, plated hands, plated indices, white subdials. To me it’s a day one credit card slams… finally a regular production run of the speedy Tuesday!

That would be the best looking regular steel Speedmaster of them all.

i guess i know what it will be. a standard steel version and a high-end moonshine gold version, both with black lacquer dial and white sub dials, 3861 movement and case back. i should say i have been expected for special version for a long time , but...ah..another regular "color changing game" fine...
I hope a gold version is eventually released.

At least it doesn’t have fauxtina. Though I wonder why they didn’t make the subdial hands black for better legibility. That would also make the dial pop a lot more.

Doesn’t excite me, but I’m not the target for this. Sure it’ll sell well.

I think it looks attractive and think it is pretty nice. That said, I don't see myself adding it to my collection, so saved money there 😁

I wish it was something else only because I just got my old 1984 Heuer back from a relative who was wearing it and it’s a bit too similar. -My first nice watch. Picked it up in Berne.

It cost SF 670 back then ($265).

It looks premium. The sunken subdials are interesting. If the glossy dial is done well it can have a very stylish look. Possibly in the catalog on a leather alligator strap as well to make it a little dressy.
Some will say that Omega is doing a re-run of their limited editions as regular production now.
Some will say it’s lazy, or boring. Remember, it’s a 42mm Speedmaster. Not so much to deviate from, it’s basically a Speedy you know ;-) All the variations have been done. It’s rinse and repeat with the new movement.
I think it’s a mature release to release it as a regular production. Most of us are done with the gimmicky stuff and the small patches in the subdials anyway. Limited to 2000 pieces and make the collectors chase it on an internet form is childish too.
You want one, get one. 10k please. That’s it.

There needs to be a link to the advertising campaign. So far, nothing. I'm expecting a surprise.

I wish they had the limited editions again because they have the potential to carry some upside into the future whereas these regular production models don’t seem to. And I know a lot of people think of watches as a consumable, but there are others who do not which includes me.

There’s something special about being able to get a boutique-only edition and have it be limited. That seems to be gone now, apart from the c321 and silver snoopy? Not that the boutique-only additions always have upside. Look at Panerai as an example of that. Lol.

In the end, to me, there isn’t a lot of urgency to a purchase like this. You might as well wait for it to become more readily available in an authorized dealer and get a discount. Or buy it used after the initial release period has ended. Or buy a vintage Speedy.

I do like the look of it, though. Same with the white dial.

I’ll be excited to go and see these in person. I’ll try to find some time in my work schedule in the week if I can.

Rolex’s Daytonas, GMTs, and even Subs are not limited nor boutique only allocations, yet they’re more special to get from an AD than numbered limited editions. You don’t need these gimmicks to sell exclusivity. Limited watches should exist only due to production constraints.

Now why would they not use the domed crystal of the new FOIS? Sometimes I feel Omega is incompetent on purpose. Maybe incompetent is the wrong word, but you know what I mean.

That’s a good point. They’re not boutique only editions. But they’re so so very hard to get. And they retain their value as a result.

Imho for the same reason ceramic bezels are not used on all Speedy's, wanting to differentiate between special and normal models. This looks similarly grouped together with the white dialed one.

Yep I saw that too. It's the boxy sapphire sandwich crystal which gives the milky ring.

Of course that might be an AI bullshit render...

This new Speedy might have a ceramic bezel; we'll have to wait to find out.

Hardly a compelling reason to buy even if so. But don't mind my negatively: more choice is good. I was just hoping for something a bit more out there.
