Any Omega fans NOT interested in the Speedmaster? If so, why?

I have always found chronographs a bit busy and harder to read than a 3 handed watch but, I admit to a casual interest in them. I like the space history and have seen some of the actual space worn watches at NASA Houston. I'm not a great collector of watches as I prefer to wear what I own and I max out at about 3 watches that I like to wear. The only Speedmasters that I do like are the GSOTM and a yellow dialed Professional version with a gold bezel that I read about somewhere. I just don't think I'd wear one if I had it.

I own a 125 and a Mk III, but frankly, I find the Moonwatch collecting way too busy for my liking. I didn't like the Rolex world, and I don't like what the rolexers have done to Speedmaster collecting... and I am afraid that the next in line are Constellations.

Life is already too complicated, and I prefer playing with lesser Omegas, Tissots and Longineses.

I can appreciate its history but it is not a watch I would wear. It's too busy for my taste...

Not that the Speedmaster needs any defenders, but I will say for the record that my Speedy Pro is the most legible watch at a chance in my collection - and that includes my Explorer I.

I’m honesty not sure why, but when I glance at my Speedy, the time registers with me almost instantaneously. It could be a personal thing, but I’ve seen others provide similar feedback.

Was just talking about this yesterday with a friend.

I think it comes down to if you're more a dress watch or sports watch guy. I have a 5513 but everything else I have is a dress watch. I still think the Speedy is great, but I'd rather add a dress chronograph or a classy 3 hander to my collection if I'm going to spend the money.

I think everyone gets used to looking at their watch and seeing the time. I know when I first looked at the BLNR I thought it was busy and yet after I wore it for a while I had no issue with seeing the time. Since I've been switching back and forth between my Planet Ocean and the BLNR, I find I notice the distractions on the watch until I've worn it for a couple of hours. My point being, I'm sure you're correct and likely if a had a Speedy, I would soon see only the time as you do. For my wallet's sake, I think I'll hold off on viewing chronographs.....😉

I see it as a typical engineers watch, or lower ranking clerk, lower officer or maybe auditor type of guys watch. Neat, bordering on pedantic, far far away from technically based human achievements themselves but preoccupied with them. When they take autism tests online they come out with clear traits or borderline. No offence.

And its ugly.

So, engineers are "far far away from technically based human achievements". Interesting to know. I wonder how you think the Apollo team got to space and the moon (as we're in Speedmaster discussions)?

Perhaps the next time you fly, you might look around and wonder who designed, strength checked and signed all that structure to allow it to fly? That's just a small example but, lets hope when I signed large pieces of structure off on your passenger jet, I wasn't daydreaming as I'm usually "preoccupied with" other people's achievements.🤦

Oh, I've never taken an autism test online but, whatever floats your boat...

No offence.

I find it interesting that people who go out of their way to write offensive things, find it easier to write "no offence", rather than not cause offence in the first place. 🙄

Sounds like an unsubstantiated line of bullshit. No offense.

Think I've maybe forgotten to take my pills today 😉

I don’t know if that’s necessarily true... from that last comment you sound to me like a very stable genius.

I am not specifically into Omegas, but the Speedmaster has fascinated me ever since I can remember. Somehow, it was always THE watch to me. Funny enough, thirty years and fifty watches later and I am still reluctant to drop 4k+ on a single watch. But we all know, that I'll get there one day.... 😀
It's sad what has happened to the market, but I think that the transitional models can still be good value...who knows for how long. The thing is, even at this point, I still cannot justify skipping 10 Seiko 6138 chronographs for it.
