Welcome back! Couldn't be a more appropriate thread.

Just remember that I was summoned to this thread. I did not click on the title voluntarily from the "LATEST" list.

I'm not interested in the near future since I feel that I can easily purchase one later on when more funds are available. The last two years I decided to buy watches that I like, but also feel I would have a much harder time buying in ten years. I feel like I can easily buy a common Speedmaster in ten years.

May I ask you to share some examples?

For me, "Speedmaster" is history, and this history has only one name - caliber 321 ! All other watches are a commercial effekt from Omega and for me not relevant.

I'm wondering if there are Omega collectors that have zero interest in what is considered by many WIS to be their flagship model.

I wouldn't say I don't like them but prefer SM or DV for ever day wear etc.

I didn’t even know they existed until I joined this august forum. And then after seeing them, I laughed to myself thinking how ridiculous and ugly. I was just here for the beautiful Constellations.

And then I saw the TV dial Speedmaster and it instantly stole my heart. The chunk, the funk, the uniqueness. I didn’t care that I had little use for a chronograph. I had to have one. So I bought one and wore it very happily for 10 months. Even my subtitle here is a reference to my TVDS.

And then I joined Instagram. Daily bombardment of Speedmasters became the norm. I began to discern differences. I began to get swept up in the hype of having a birth year watch. I found a beauty and then thought, wait, for this money I could have a brand-new one. So I went out and bought a brand-new one from one of the dealers here in May 2017; since then I’ve been wearing it often. On days when I wear my other watches, I switch to the Speedy after lunch.

TL;DR I thought they were not for me but I got flipped like a magnet.

And welcome back to the squirrel.

The one thing about the Speedmaster that I love is that they're so damn expensive now that a single pre-moon purchase will take out that collector as competition for nice watches of all other types. 😉 😁

The thought bubble in the cartoon could just as well say "Submariner"...

You would need a whole herd of sheep then, not just one ;-)

Don't say I'm not good to you guys. Feel free to disseminate as required 😁

Initially the Speedmaster didn't do anything for me. Over time it became something I couldn't stop thinking about...like a splinter in my mind.

I completely respect it, love the history, and may own one again in the far future... But I have tried multiple times and it's simply not a love for me. And for the price, I can't justify keeping it with so many others I love and still want.

Are there any who have absolutely no interest in the Holy Grail?
