Any Omega fans NOT interested in the Speedmaster? If so, why?

Because of the direction he’s pushed this particular thread, I’m starting to understand that @ulackfocus has a major role to play in bringing balance to the force - er, forum.

Too busy, I'm a fan of 3 handed, clean simple watches.

That and Speedmasters cost too much for what they are because of all the hype.

wicked!

That's a killer move I'm pulling right there, kicking the one Jedi in the face while coming down hard on the other, eh? You should never underestimate the power of the Dark Side.

I was pulling a mind trick on him, distracting him with a bunch of acorns I force-projectiled at his ass. I guess they're just outside the frame.

Good Jedi skills you have, acorns out of frame are not, inside the fur warmed they are...

This:

I'm not interested in fighting on the OP topic (more so in the rhetoric), but this image is kinda silly. 4 to 7, Speedmaster to other Omega. I don't see how this supports your position.

but anyway, back to the topic at hand. Jedi Squirrels are awesome!

I hate reality TV shows, every time I open the channel guide I see at least five reality shows for every quality scripted program I see, but you don't see me bitching and moaning about it on TV forums. It's pretty easy to just not watch them

I see it as a typical engineers watch, or lower ranking clerk, lower officer or maybe auditor type of guys watch.

I love Omega watches and would spend a lot of time discussing them in this fine forum if it were not for all the Speedmaster talk, it's like being in a nice living room with lots of good people - and then there is a turd in the middle of the floor everyone is talking about.

You should re-read some of your comments on this thread (two above). You come across as offensive and a fool. I don't know if you are one of the "low ranking" people you seem to despise but I suspect you are not happy in whatever you are doing.

Read what interests you. I'll stop following this thread before I say something I will regret.

Chris

Saved your bitching for the watch forums? I totally understand.😁

Just a quick point of clarification. He’s not a Jedi, he’s a Sith Lord... as you well know, an important distinction, Master Obi Wan.

I really do understand the interest in the Speedmaster as an iconic watch, much as I understand the interest in the Porsche 911 as an iconic family of cars. However, they really don't "sing" to me. If you think I'm just being a contrarian, I wandered in past one of my local ADs and tried on a few watches including a modern 42mm Moonwatch recently. However, if I was in the market for another chrono (which I'm not), of all the Omegas I tried on, this was the one I liked the best.

It's the new(ish) 38mm 324.30.38.50.01.001. To my eyes. it's better proportioned, sat on my wrist comfortably and the indented bezel and differently indexed subdials just looked nicer than the "classic". That having been said, I'm nowhere near buying one. There are still lots of other watches I'd consider ahead of a Speedie.

Even if I was interested in a modern Speedie, I'd have a heck of a job deciding which of the 117 Speedmaster variants to buy (including the 44 in the Moonwatch Catalogue alone) that currently seem to be on offer.
