Any Omega fans NOT interested in the Speedmaster? If so, why?

I feel objectively that there is very little to dislike about the Sppedmaster, all things considered.

I like the Sppedmaster too Bob. 👍

I was 6 and a half in July of '69 and the Moon Landing occurred. I, like every other boy from 4 to 12 wanted to be an astronaut. I watched everything I could to do with the space program. I dreamed of going to the moon. I love Omegas and want more, yet I have no interest in the Speedy. I can't tell you why, but give me a late 50's to early 60's Connie, Seamaster, or a 50's 2 tone dial Geneve every time. I can't explain it, but I just have no interest. A Seamaster can tell me when my 3 minute egg is done or a Connie can tell me when my 15 mins of fame is over. I do love my Panda, but that has to do with the style and looks. I still haven't timed a thing. But, maybe I am the strange one here.

No, I don't think so. I saw a thread here a few weeks ago concerning some arcania around a Speedmaster, I forget what - but I am sure the participants in it can tell us - and my comment was "You guys are nuts!" and I got the impression that they had absolutely no problem with that assessment.

The thing about Omega is there is something for almost - almost - every taste. As to the mechanical watches I'm pretty catholic in my taste; what I can't warm up to are the quartz watches. The digital Speedmaster gets a visceral negative from me - it looks like my old $30 Casio but cheaper.

I'm like @Canuck, I prefer wearing my Reduced Speedies. I like the size, the auto, the look and I'm not afraid I'm gonna hurt it. My "real" Speedmaster I always baby when I wear it, silly way to treat a tool watch, no?

...other have a dislike for something popularly enjoyed because they feel if they also like it, they are just one of the many who latch on to something, and can't think on their own. Thus, they choose to like something unpopular just to make themselves feel different or special...

In Australia we call those hipsters

While I wouldn't say that I dislike the Speedmaster, my first two Omega purchases were both Seamasters (Planet Ocean chrono and 300M chrono). I like a larger watch with some heft which at 45.5mm and 44mm respectively, the two Seamasters satisfied perfectly. The trouble is, now every other watch seems too small and light. That said, I am enamored with the story behind the Speedmaster and have already promised myself that Moonwatch Pro Chrono will be the next to join the collection.

Never been a fan of them as they lacked a critical requirement for me; a date. That said, with the advent of the 9300 movement I've counted a Speedy as my next chronograph, hopefully in the form of a GSOTM.

The thought bubble in the cartoon could just as well say "Submariner"...

I didn't care for speedmasters either at first. I can't afford to have multiple watches in the thousands, and the small second hand of the speedmaster just didn't mesmerize me the way a larger second hand on a three hand watch does. I might just be weird, but whenever I'm bored in class, I love watching a second hand sweep. However, I am now casually looking for my first speedy, after trying a new one on at an AD and really liking it. Still, If I were to choose between a diver like my PO or a speedy as my only watch, I would still pick the PO

One thing I do genuinely love about the Speedmaster is that it's a manual wind watch.

The one thing about the Speedmaster that I love is that they're so damn expensive now that a single pre-moon purchase will take out that collector as competition for nice watches of all other types. 😉 😁
