@VintageOmegaLove

A little late but I have one and when searching found your post and our member Franco's great 30mm site shows this advertisement.

And our member Erich's outstanding ode (in book form) to 30mm's has no example.

Franco says maybe 1950's

Has anybody discovered a date range for these USA Market buckles in the intervening time?

Mine has neither Hallmarks nor wear-through, so I will just call it yellow, for now.

mine

nice one, fwiw the logo on the strap is jk for jacques kreisler

Hi guys, would anyone be so kind as to take a look at this buckle of mine? The engraving on the back only says “SWISS” with no indication of stainless steel. I have a feeling it might not be authentic but I am not 100% sure. It came with a 1950s vintage piece that I bought.

Thank you!

Sorry, I don´t read SWISS - it more reads like "SSins" so clearly not original Omega

Still fake.

If it is, it's one of the better ones. But you can buy the same thing brand new from Omega, so no need to seek dubious "vintage" examples.

Hi OF,

I'm going to go for my first purchase of Omega Buckles. I intend to put them with some Deville chrono of mine a 145.018 in GF and a 146.017 in SS from 1969 (But if I realize later on they would be better fitting other decades... that will still be fine as I start to have a few watches to match with them).

My main question : are they both original ?

https://www.ebay.fr/itm/394243847566

I can identify the GF one but can't see any sign on the SS one... What do you think ?

Thanks for your help.

The gold-filled looks OK. The stainess one, I have not seen that shape before. The tongue/pin seems legit, but that's all I can say about it.

Looks like a hybrid of the "early" AW buckles. Same rectangle side profile. Hybrid meaning it has a long logo, on top of the "half moon" tang rest like the other one in the below images:

Evolution of AW. buckles

Omega De Ville 146.017 with a caliber 930.
I'm going to find the 524 end links to put my 1069 bracelet on it but I thought it also looks nice on a strap/buckle 😀

Nice article there : https://www.fratellowatches.com/tbt-omega-deville-chronograph-146017/
This was this article that caught my attention in the first place.
And some more read here in OF :

I'll stop : Enough with hijacking this great thread 😀

It looks genuine to me. I may be wrong, but it would have been used in the later '60s or very early '70s.

This looks nice but probably fake

Looks like a genuine buckle made for the American market. Does it have a tiny "Omega" engraving on the right side in the back?

Found this gold plated 16mm ... The back side looks ok but the profile of the Omega seems more rounded when the pics I've seen in the thread appear more flat. Thoughts?

IMO, that one is a cast copy with modern engraving underneath.

As the supply of original buckles dries up and Omega discontinuing their line of vintage looking buckles, I think we can expect more of this kind of item to appear.

Yes, without the vast repository that is this thread, it's easy to believe these sellers have legit products. Once it's compared to absolute known good examples, it's the finer details that make the difference. It felt off to me too after looking at several pages in the thread so I appreciate the backup look.
