thanks mac - is there a buckle that you could point me towards? It's for a ref. 2374-6 similar to the photo (but w/out radial numerals).

A buckle from 1945 is likely plain and probably not signed, depending on country of origin.

I thought this buckle was genuine but after seeing one in a Classified described as a fake, I'm no longer sure. Would be glad of opinions from those who know more than I do. I can't even remember where I got this or how much I paid, so if it's a fake it's not a big deal financially, just a bummer that my only "Omega" buckle isn't. Sorry about photo quality, not my area of expertise....

"ACIERINOX" instead of "ACIER INOX" indicates fake. Also, the logo seems too molten to my taste.

I was afraid of that... But thanks anyway for taking the time to look.

What strikes me is the accent on the e of Oméga. In French you don't put the accents on capital letters. On the other hand my guts tell me it is legit. It is a AW. buckle because of the profile and the marking in inverse direction but without the logo. It will fit in "the missing link or buckle " paragraph as the ancestor of AW. buckles.
I know this comment is three years old, but this is not correct! In practice, it is common not to put accents on capital letters, but that is contrary to what for example l'Académie Française recommends. Probably there are all sorts of practical reasons why accents are often omitted in capital letters: difficulty of writing accents with computers, and before with printing them. https://www.chosesasavoir.com/faut-mettre-accent-lettres-majuscules/

This 16mm MG looks real to me, but I am a little concerned about the lack of a "plaque" stamp. I would appreciate any input you may have.

I suspect not because ACIER INOX is supposed to be two words, but the Omega symbol looks a lot less blobby than many.

Since my Omega watches of "this age" are all American market, I worry less about marked buckles because the watches likely received US-manufactured straps in 11/16" with unmarked buckles.

I checked the ACERINOX against the photos in the beginning of the OP and there are examples shown with one word. It looks pretty similar to the example, but the stamps do not look as straight as the example. I have some doubts as well. The SS in Swiss look a little off as well.

I found this one on auction but i have never seen this style of buckle before with the Omega logo in a square. What are your thoughts on it? From what era do you guys think it may originate from?
My Omega logo on a square is gold coloured, and is on a 1959 Seamaster. It has ‘B (Beta) and SWISS’, similar to one of the examples in Omegastar’s original post.

@impalla62ss : One other area that I would consider worth looking at is the spring bar. I realize these can be changed, but many of the fakes tend to have thin/cheap modern spring bars. Compare the gold example with the two stainless you posted.

This buckle also has the tight lettering for Acier Inox, but I believe it is still correct.

I believe the logo on square buckle was not produced before the seventies.

Thanks @felsby, I hadn’t known that. It would seem that I have a 60 year old watch and a 50 year old buckle. Happily both now vintage.

Apropos buckle age, another of mine, a 1969 stainless steel watch has a stainless steel buckle with a slightly different soldered (I assume) Omega design

Buckle matching the watch age-wise 😎

OMG this thread is way too OCD for me

That's us. And it is passion, not OCD. Which, by the way, should be spelled CDO to put the letters in alphabetical order AS THEY SHOULD!

That is similar to the stainless one I found for my Dynamic.

Dear All:

I noticed that only a few messages above, many good folks here feel that ACIERINOX without a space between ACIER and INOX indicates a fake tang buckle.

I just bought this on ebay. may i ask if you guys feel this is fake or real, please?

thank you gentlemen in advance for your experienced views.

Probably not genuine. Did you get it cheap?
