Also, Omega formerly delivered a lot of watches with tapered 18/14mm straps, and consequently, it is easier to find genuine 14mm buckles, as the matching tapered straps are becoming scarce. But you can still get those straps, e.g. at eBay seller Squinky, or order a custom-made strap at https://www.abpconcept.paris/
Anyone see these? Thoughts? https://m.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Auth...839477?hash=item1ee24ee275:g:OKgAAOSwshJbETmZPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Trying to secure a mid 60s buckle for my pie pan, thankful for this thread! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Om...WEAAOSwo8BbFYTX:sc:USPSFirstClass!20186!US!-1Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network That looked okay to me due to spacing between acier inox + the hallmark, am I missing anything?
I got one from that dealer - it looks legit, but so shiny that I am tempted to write it off as a copy. Also, he seems to have an unlimited supply of that model. Try to find an 18/14mm strap - 14mm original buckles frequently come up on eBay.
awesome work! i wonder if it is humanely possible to catalog the watches that were sold with just bracelets, or leather straps or both?
My understanding was that a lot of them you basically got to choose a bracelet, at least that was the case with some constellations.
that does make it infinitely tricky. i wonder if it is worth the effort to hunt down a period correct buckle, if you knew the watch does not come a leather strap originally.
Reach out to @omegastar He started this thread and has an excellent supply of legit buckles. Also fair prices and instant communication!
Anyone know of where I can get a vintage 18mm gold omega buckle? I was thinking of getting the new style buckle from ofrei but I'd much rather have a vintage style buckle to go with my 1970 seamaster.
These are rare. There is a rather costly 9K gold version on eBayPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network.
Theres a much nicer ( less polished) one in normal bidding on ebay. Ow, just search omega 9k Nothing to do with me, but this is the best way to pick these up. Sometimes look for omega 9k watches - sometimes they also have the original buckle attached still
Good tip! But it is a 16mm buckle, @Menikmati is looking for an 18mm eBay search results are completely unpredictable. This little gem does not show up if you search "omega gold buckle" although these 3 words are all in the listing headline.
18 mm buckles are truely rare. Most (all?) of the English hallmarked ones are 16mm Good luck with the hunt regardless
Definitely out of my budget, but I appreciate the link. Thanks! The only 18mm vintage style ones I can find on eBay are fakes, and i really don't want to go there, lol.
