About Omega buckles

Does anyone have photos of a genuine mid - late 1930's buckle? I have a large bag of antique unsigned buckles with all kinds of stamps underneath (some have nothing) dated from about 1910 to 1940 allegedly. I am hoping some of them in there are a close match for a few of my watches.

PS: Awesome thread, huge but awesome 🤣

Thanks

Hello,

I hope all is well. Has anyone encountered a vintage 18k Omega buckle like this one?

I've noticed 3-4 identical examples on various sites so I believe it's authentic but I am curious on what the experts think about this one. 😀

I am also wondering which Omega watch typically came with this type of buckle (I am thinking maybe an 18k Constellation) and the period of time (60s / 70s or later?)

Interestingly, the buckle features a screw-in spring bar.

Most importantly, would this buckle be a period correct choice for a 168.029 C-shape Connie?

Thanks!

I’m not sure if that is an original Omega buckle.

Even if it is, I don’t think it goes with a C case Constellation. The screw-in bar came along later, maybe 1980’s vintage?

I understand... I've purchased this exact buckle mounted on an Omega strap and with an Omega tag attached to it.. all in NOS condition.. but it could be fake, not excluding it.

The price on the hangtag seems to be Italian Lire - so maybe a locally produced buckle from Italy?

Good catch, mac_omega!

The Italian Lira (ITL) was replaced with the Euro on January 1, 1999. One EUR is equivalent to 1936.27 ITL.

If the attached tag is original to the buckle and bracelet, they were priced at around EUR 1239.

unless the watch (likely in 18k) + the bracelet with the 18k buckle were priced at this amount.

Ah yes… according to the people I bought the watch from (it’s a first execution ref. 2391 by the way), this watchstrap was always and forever on this watch, which makes me believe that it’s the first and only watchstrap that was ever on this watch and that the strap itself is also Omega.

IMO the buckle is original but the strap not.
I have seen a lot of early straps from Omega but none has ever had these rivets...
