As this thread has been added to over years now, curious to hear what people are experiencing as far as current vintage buckle prices? Seems the sundial variation from the 60s/70s are regularly fetching upwards of $90, any other pricing trends you’ve noticed on these? 40s - 70s?

The 50’s “fat” Ω buckles are even more difficult to get. 40-80 € is normal in EU for SS and gold plated.

Seems like anything 50s - verifiably from the 50s - is getting difficult to find. Thanks for the price info (though I wish it wasn’t so!)

I could live with the price, if I knew I could get one. But a 16mm "fat" gold buckle is like getting the holy grail, at least right now. Maybe a visit to an old watchmaker shop would be of value....

I paid £75.00 for mine, in SS.

I am delighted that I found one!

A beauty. In which period did they use this design? There is a gold-plated 14mm in the same design on eBay.

If I did my homework 😲 , late(ish) 50's - early 60's.
(that's a big IF, by the way)

Definitely a beauty, Steve! Any chance you can ad a pic of the back? Always curious to see which markings are lining up with which period. Thanks!

Great write-up !

So amongst my old omega bits I have a "9. Even later B" in 14mm, and a "Modern Style MG" in 16mm. So I learnt something today 😀
3.Older style MG.

Note how the older style Omega symbol is much thicker

4.Old style MG.

Evolution of MG. buckles

Older style AW.

Old style AW.

Evolution of AW. buckles

5.Special EK.

8.Later B.

9.Even later B

Well, I think that's all folks.
I hope it will be usefull to someone.
Mounir
Thanks a lot for this excellent research. Very helpful

Thank you for starting this thread and sharing your knowledge. It prompted me to look at the buckle that I have on my chronostop. Unfortunately it has none of the marking of the 4 types you describe? Doesn't that mean it isn't real. Please forgive my rubbish camera photos

Focus?

If there is nothing at all engraved on the buckle, then it’s likely a fake.

Thank you. I tried quite hard to get the phone to focus! I need to learn more about the camera settings as the normal one just couldn't do it!

Have no affiliation and don't know the seller but have had good communication on another item and noticed he has great buckle options - bleder3 on the Bay.

Good buckles come up frequently on eBay. Make a saved search on "Omega XXmm gold buckle" - and skip all the obvious fakes.
