A 2915-1 surfaced on Chronotrader yesterday. I know less than nothing about these and wouldn't like to comment. No price is mentioned, just open to offers. No service history and it doesn't run. Just interested if anyone was prepared to comment on the authenticity. There would appear to be more than the occasional scam on Chronotrader these days.
The movement number looks like it may start 15148xxx which MWO states "probably some", so movement could be correct.

Is this lume on the sub hands? I like these small customizations done in the past (if leg铆t).

What wonders me most is the caseback and the "Speedmaster" text. Seems to big, allready touching the opening marks.

The same person sells a crater box for 300$ ?? 馃槙
He knows the correct collector name of the box and he doesn't know the real price?
Maybe it's a scam.
Has the 2915 also a modern bezel and pushers?
The crown I'm sure it's modern.

A seamonster Logo (also total off Center) on a 2915-1 caseback?!
As far as i鈥榤 aware of there should be none. ( Edit: Type A2 2915-1 caseback with Seahorse Logo according to MWO, thanks to @Dash1 for pointing it out!)

Re: Speedmaster Text, here鈥榮 a pic of a legit 2915-2 caseback , text is more centered between the caseback holes.

Cheers,

Max

Nothing checks out here. Kind regards. Achim
Unfortunately it鈥檚 a scam. Seller said he is based in Norway. Then when I proposed a face to face all went quit. Asking 2,500 usd for this one seemed a bit off

I completely avoid chronotrader at the moment as it seems flowded with scammers. I don't know if there a lack of security there or other reasons for it.

True! Also mentioned in MWO, haven鈥檛 checked my 2915-1 facts in a while.

But yours seem to be perfectly centered, unlike the fake shown above.

Cheers,

Max

I doubt that. Not on 2915-1. In this case I doubt the info in the book. Kind regards. Achim

I agree with you. At least I have seen a few over the years.

just my 2c, I've been scammed via chronotrader before - there's really not much recourse there in terms of the community, even from 'established' collectors - be careful!

I鈥檓 starting to think you have bad luck... or was it another Icelander? 馃槤

Haha nah it was years ago, not Icelandic - I think the seller, who is a somewhat established 'collector' based in slovenia or slovakia, Janez Grom (instagram vintage_kronos) was hoping I wouldn't notice the redial and he was just trying to flog the piece off. Once I pointed this out to him after the transaction, got total radio silence.

I got given a redial (I should've been more careful) and a movement on an omega seamaster cal 321 that basically didn't work at all. Cost about 1500 usd all up to source the correct dial, a whole bunch of new movement parts, and a full movement overhaul haha.

2 negative transactions out of about 40 or so in the past 4-5 years isn't too bad, but still pretty frustrating. You live and you learn! Gotta do your own due diligence even with 'established collectors'.

I posted a warning up on a few forums, and the guy finally contacted me(Janez Grom) threatening legal action because I was 'extorting him for additional money'. It's interesting how people try to save face when they're caught out. I try to steer clear of chronotrader now - I know a few others who have been scammed over the years then too.

Fake dial:
