I've been there once nice roads outside the city region for a fun drive, I'm from Noordwijk a little village near The Hague. Have you been toying around with the idea of making a watch a long time? I would know the movement i want but not the case shape nor the dial what i do want is a dome saphire glas

I haven't really. I just kept seeing nice designs for single things in many different models but had not seen all of those elements come together in a watch I liked. I've had a few requests to re-do the hands, so I did that on the diver model. Not sure I like them that much, but who knows.

Haha, well I'm not sure the gold has grown on me like I thought it would. I do think it catches the light in such a very cool way and isn't a Seamaster you see all the time, but the gold just hasn't caught the heartstrings. Not that I'm against gold watches - some of them look great! I just think, for me and my tastes, it just isn't catching on like I'd intended.

So, I guess I'll list it, see if it sells, and try something else.

That seems fair , now we're entering autumn I'm wearing it less myself . This is not because I don't like it anymore but because it's hard to hide under a shirt 😀 .

It is a tall watch, but I haven't had an issue pulling it under a shirt. Good watch though, I just need to make a stellar for sale ad now. That's a whole art in and of itself.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread but I'm in the market for a 2296.80 and I'm finding it hard to tell the difference when looking at pictures between a 2296.80 and a 2297.80. Is it only the 2296.80 that has the tantalum bezel and tantalum in the bracelet links or does the 2297.80 also have that? I saw a piece in good condition on chrono24 advertised as titanium, gold, and tantalum. I thought it looked like red gold but then I saw the number on the inside of the caseback which is labelled 1780504. The bracelet is labelled TL-826. Is this the red gold or yellow gold model? Either my eyes are seeing things but I swear the bezel and small link rows look bluish like the tantalum should look. My guess is maybe the caseback is mismatched? If so, does it matter since it's still titanium? From the pictures it looks like it's in amazing condition given the age. Thanks.

Like I said paint - not a Sharpie. When I do this job I yes use model paints.

I use Humbrol enamel paints . This is the best

Richter that looks like a trimetal 96 version the give awat is on the inside of the bracelet where you can really see the differant colors. Looks good but has had a polish.

I figured that it's been polished. Not likely for something 25 years old to look so minty. Has it lost too much of the original shape where it looks melted down?

richter , it look decent for it's age . While titanium is light and strong it is also quitte soft, therefore it is hard to polish in the sense that you quickly lose the sharpness of the case. This example looks ok however there are some for sale where are you located?

Maybe I should just keep looking for an unpolished specimen then. I would probably want to send it into Swatch Group for a full service which would mean another polish.

That is an option, I personally had a not so good experience with Swatch group polishing . My watch has it's nicks and dents but is unpolished and I don't mind it means I can enjoy it without worries. On a side note I now of an unpolished and nearly unworn example. I will seek info if it's for sale.

That would be awfully good of you to inquire for me. Thank you!

Richter I've contacted the owner of the watch. As I'm unsure of Forum policy I will p.m. you about the watch.

Great watch a classic remember seeing it in the mid 90's at the Omega AD , I was a teenager at the time , that watch was near 10k Canadian after taxes always wished I could afford one, at 2-3k American for such a watch its a steal!

Ericmtl I had no lead on the box other than RJ from Fratello who could confirm it is an Omega original piece , I just think it's rare as I've yet to come across another

Thanks for the update and did you ever find out with which watch originally it came with ? was it actually a box that came with the 2296.80 watch but in another market like the special Titanium box that came with the European market ?
