Funny thing is that the aging tritium is a nice match with the rose gold! (Y)

Full set! Mine was watch only. I like that "box" it came in!

I might even do a video of this watch. As I was shopping around, there seemed to be a surprising lack of info/reviews/videos of this one. Made me kind of sad to not be able to bask in lots of testimonials about it and read up on the nuances of ownership prior to its arrival.

There are a few on the tube, yeah actually I almost think the metal box is more rare than the watch because all other I saw come either in a red box or a grey box with a little piece of titanium. The blue box you see on the picture is an Omega travel case wich also came with it.

You're likely correct. I've never seen a box like that one. All the ones I saw advertised for sale had the red or black box. All in various states of decomposition, as those are famous for. I'd hang out to that as long as you can, it's a great piece! Good conversation starter for a study.

If there was anybody who is an def expert on these I have questions atleast these:

Tell me about the box.
How many 2296 were made?
Howcome they used tantalum
How was this watch even possible being 4 times the price of the stainless steel chrono when new.

I'm going to have to look for one of those boxes. Would be a great addition.

Good luck! If you do not find one I always thought the big grey box with a piece of titanium look nice.

It'll be tough as I'm sure most owners wouldn't put those up for sale. I think you're right about them being more rare than the watch. Who knows how may watches were sold in those boxes, and how many were taken out and sold in regular ones. But also thanks for sharing. It's such a near box!

I'm also on the hunt for a box , the box the 2231.50 came in the 150th titanium anniversary . Wich resembles as dive flask, it's interesting that they also made it for another Omega I believe the 200m this would be perfect since mine is not a 150th anniversary

So I snapped a few photos of the innards of the watch today. They're hastily taken, so please excuse them. I think I've actually got a 2297.80, as the gold is looking quite yellow to me, the more I look at it. Older 1154 movement as well.

Yes, that is a 22978000 with the 1780504 case. If it was a 22988000 is would be a 1780514 case.

Thanks for the info! The more I looked at it, the more I thought to myself "that has to be yellow. It doesn't even look remotely rose!" And now I know. Googling the case references wasn't too clear, as it seemed like all the titanium cases had that reference. But in any case, thanks again! I appreciate it immensely.

It also didn't look like a tantalum bezel to me...which seemed odd for the 2296.80, as I was informed it had the tri-tone.

No, this one is Ti and gold only - no tantalum.

Well at least now I can search more thoroughly on ofrei. That does make it a bit easier to find some spare parts since they're listings are for those case numbers.

Thanks again!

Al replied earlier than me on this one, I have to ask though what is up with the firs link next to your endlink the middle parts (two gold lines and the ti) seem to be loose. Ofrei just like other companies are suppling mostly on stock they still have it seems. As Omega stopped selling parts to them in addition they raised there prices to a point where it comes to be cheaper to go to a certified repair center.

Yes, the bracelet is missing a bar that seems to go in there. I'd repair it myself but I have no idea how to do it. I'm not quite sure this is the titanium and 18K yellow gold bracelet, as it's got the 1504-826 stamping on it, but I could be wrong. Googling all these numbers shows a plethora of results. I'll need to narrow down the bracelet reference that came with the 2297.80 and see if I can find parts/replacement bracelets. I know they'll be expensive, given the materials they're made out of and all, but at least I can start looking. Also, I think I'll need the bezel spring replaced, there's a bit of play in the bezel and, as far as I know, the spring is the usual culprit for that.

But also, just one more note, and then I'll quit spamming the thread: I love that we're keeping this going and discussing these watches. There's next to no information out there about these and it was a bit difficult to get a feel for owning one from just one or two articles. There are a ton of way old for sale ads, and that's great, but that doesn't let me bask in photos, or see how people enjoy these watches. The Rose/Yellow/Titanium model is such a class act to my eye, and I think it's good to have more information out there about these.

Sentimental post complete.

Bracelet for that watch is 020TB1504826.
