Im a bottom feeder lol. Majority of the pieces I pick up are on the cheap. Occasionally I will branch out and spend over $500 .
Some guys have all the luck, especially with the Memovox. Great post!

AU$50 for a nice steel Omega De Ville from about 1968-70, 620 Calibre manual wind good for 40 hours, cleaned up well and looking good for its age. Goes hand in hand with my 70s Seamaster, and works as a stopgap for the wife until the Constellation comes along...

The problem I have with this silly hobby is that I haven't yet learned to think with my head, and evaluate prospective purchases clinically, unemotionally, objectively. Consider this 83 year-old example, which has all of the flaws that seasoned watch collectors avoid: A grubby dial...a chrome-plated case...bent lugs...the wrong crown...it's too small. 🤦
Dare I say, it was love at first sight! 🥰

Last month was my first time backing a Kickstarter campaign. And it happens to be for a watch. The company seems to have completed a few other watch projects and the specs on this watch seemed pretty nice for the price. I wasnt able to find any negative postings about them so decided to pull the trigger

This is for a Diver called Dark Water 300
316L Stainless Steel watch
43.5MM wide
Seiko NH36 automatic movement
Sapphire crystal
Cermaic Bezel
Super-Luminova
300M water resistance

The total price for this was $206 shipped! The watch comes either in blue or black and on a rubber strap. Since the campaign hit their "stretch goal" the company is throwing in 6 other bands for free! 3 rubber straps, 2 leather nato straps (brown and black) and a nylon nato strap. They also have two stainless bands available which can be added on for $14 and $16 more!

Im planning to get both SS bands as well and the watch in blue.. My total will be $236 for a blue diver with 7 straps and 2 bracelets. I mean, at that price it was absolutely worth the gamble. The watch is slated for July delivery.

Here are some pics from the company itself. I'll probably update this with actual photos and feedback once I get it in my hands.

Very nice looking watch! My only nit is that they used the NH36 movement. Better movements available (Seiko 6R15 or Miyota 9015). Keeping costs down, no doubt.

Yeah, Im sure they are buying the easiest to source and probably the cheapest in bulk. The other movements would have made it even better, but I think for the price point, that movement is ok enough too. This can make for a very good beater to take around places. The ingredients all sound good. Im just hoping that the finish and quality is descent enough too once it comes.

This one missed the $500 threshold by $4. I'm gonna show it anyway...

Bought for 250 Euros and makes me recall childhood days when I pressed my nose against the window of the jeweler shop to look at Omegas...

Well at least you appear mortal... that haul in just over a month would have been epic. Still the Sherpa takes some beating irrespective of time scale.

Sub $50 watch + $20 nato. Nothing too special, but I like it.

I got this watch for free when I turned in my "Half Back" certificate that the local AD gave me when I bought my wife's new Consti. Haven't had a chance to wear it yet as I'm still waiting on new straps (not a fan of the bracelet).
