·Soooo, Ricciardo to Renault?
I don't fanatically follow F1 news but I didn't see that one coming...
I mean I guess he could be worried about the Red Bull switch to Honda,
or maybe he hates Max haha,
or maybe he just knows something we don't and feel is like it is the right move.
Regardless I think he will still be around for a while and as long as he performs well top teams will definitely still have an interest in him.
I wouldn't mind seeing him take Kimi's place eventually...

·Moving to Renault seems like such a bad idea. Their PU is not on par with Mercedes or Ferrari and their aero is not as good as Red Bull.
At least if he stayed at Red Bull he'd still be in an Adrian Newey designed car. That being said I thought that Lewis moving to Mercedes was an equally terrible move and look how that turned out. I'm afraid RIC is going to be ALO 2.0 but w/out the WDCs.

·This could herald some interesting shuffles. HUL could be in trouble unless RB take SAI, however there was also noise about OCN move to RB, which could scan if a deal was there.
However GAS also needs to be considered, but maybe not just yet?

·Yeah it has been mentioned the last couple weeks that Stroll family could buy FI, thus, securing a seat for Lance.
But that is just speculation.
Regardless, this really has the potential to shake-up the whole driver line-up for next season.

·That would take pay drivers to an entirely new level of STR's dad just flat out buys a team...
RIC is really going to shake up the driver market. I wouldn't be surprised to see changes for RAI, OCO, GAS, and SAI. Not to mention that I think HAR is done this year and then throw Lando Norris into the mix.

·RAI is probably staying at Ferrari, if not, he's just done, I don't think he would go anywhere else So that spot would be for LEC.
GAS will probably move into RIC's spot at RB and that is where it will all get a bit uncertain.
So for TR I could see them keeping HAR and bringing in Lando.
OCO was rumored to be going to Renault and that would open up a spot for STR but now that spot is RIC's.
OCO will probably stay but that puts PER on the line.
SAI is a wild-card. I don't think RB will want him (doubt he'd go bact to TR) so maybe he gets to go to McLaren and VAN gets the boot.

·I think PER is safe because of the money he brings to the table. I didn't think about SAI getting the short end of the stick but I think you are right. I can't see him going back to TR and I think GAS gets the RBR seat over him.

·Once Marko stated publicy (with his typical tact) that Ricciardo had nowhere to go, I think he pretty much left Dan without any option but to close the deal with Renault...so not really a surprise move for me from me after the Marko "burp", especially with Merc having re-signed both Lewis/Bottas and Ferrari having signaled Leclerc as the natural Kimi substitute for 2019+.
I think we may see RBR lose performance next year as they absorb Honda within their structure and Renault should be able to move a step up. I think this will make for some great RBR-Renault battles for P4.😀
I know it is highly unlikely, both based on Alonso having burned bridges with Honda and RBR not willing to pay more for expensive mature drivers...but...if Alonso were to accept a lower pay check, Alonso vs Verstappen at RBR would be enormous fun to watch😁

·I certainly didn’t see that one coming! It’s got to be either the money from Renault or Danny Ric didn’t fancy the Honda engine in the Red Bull.
I’m a Danny Ric fan and I hope it works out for him, it certainly throws a spanner in the works for next seasons driver lineup as the previous posts show. I wouldn’t even try to speculate how this will pan out other than to say I hope Kimi stays at Ferrari.

·I think Ricciardo made the right choice. We can only go on recent history that Honda engines will be slow, Renault might be the 2018 Red Bull of 2019 if Honda doesn't work out. That and maybe this is a signal Renault will spend a bit more money next season and continue to improve.

·Yeah, if I had to guess RB didn't offer RIC as much or more than VER and Renault is. I would love to see ALO in a competitive car. In the realm of things that will never happen but I'd like to see is ALO back at Ferrari with VET.

If Force India had gone into administration 1 month earlier and been sold to who should have bought it last year which should now happen, FI would also have been a good choice for RIC. Until that sale happens they can’t sign a driver...
