Already posted the pic from the sales ad in another thread (see: here) but now I have the watch in hand.

Less pink than I expected but still very nice. I'd rather call it vanilla orange.

Very rare dialtype with interesting details. See for instance the position of the 5 & 7 vs the subdials. Normally tipping over is an indication of a redial but in this case I'm convinced the dial is real and original.

Case size is 36/37mm. Movement is a 156. Zenith Compaxes are rare: I have full data on 20 of them (and some other without serials). Zenith Compurs are more common: I have data on 72 of them.

@Mark020 The UG fan in me loves to see the hundreds of watches you find on the internet but it is even more pleasing to see you pick up something special along the way. Big congrats!

Very nice piece!

Also interesting to see the quite crude scratching of the words "ZXF", "Swiss", "Unadjusted", "Seventeen -17- Jewels" and "Watch Co." I'm guessing that this movement was originally lacking the proper engravings for import to the US.

That’s what I think as well. Seen more often by the way. Very un-Swiss

It is really a special watch. And the good thing: 292 degrees and -5 secs a day. So basically no service needed

This is what I have on file. And somebody contacted me with a similar one to mine (but without the Swiss on the dial). I also included a couple with similar design but with only 2 sub dials [edited 24 April: added the ref 22416 which is for sale here ]

This gets interesting. As stated above there appears to be a very similar one. The owner does not have it by hand so we will have to wait until the weekend for the numbers but I assume the reference is the same and the serial will be close. At first glance the dials are identical but once you dive deeper there are some interesting differences.

- Swiss printed on mine (perhaps because it is a US market one)
- Placement and font of Zenith
- The 2's on mine seem to have a longer tail
- Placement of the 5 & 7 seems to differ a tiny little bit
- Also the index hands differ but I assume this is because they will have been replaced

And indeed: same reference and very close serial. Intruiging isn’t it?

I’m not surprised to see dial variations like that on original dials that are tightly clustered, definitely seen it before

Me neither but every grain of new info I find I have more questions about the business model of UG in the 1930/40's
